I'm going for Hamer. For any keeper to come after Elliot, it was going to be a tough. Hamer has only made one mistake against Colchester. Wouldn't count the Notts County blunder as his fault as Matt Taylor could have cleared it. He's put in some class performances this season.
Do you mean he only made one mistake against Colchester, or that his only mistake of the season has been the one against Colchester? If the latter then I don't agree at all, in terms of serious mistakes, he needlessly got himself sent off against Orient away, let the ball go right through him at the Bury home game, added to the ones at Colchester and Notts County home games. Plus all the minor mistakes he's made which haven't been punished, i.e constantly failing to hold onto the ball from long shots, soft punches, failing to command his area at corners etc. The Notts County goal, regardless of whether Matt Taylor could have cleared it, it was Hamer's job to take control of his area. He should have charged down the ball, the box is his zone and its where he should be controlling. You cannot stand on your line and just hope the defender deals with the striker he's marking - the striker had a great deal of pace and was bearing down on the ball, Hamer could see this a lot more than Taylor could, who was facing the goal whilst also running.
I know the goal was unfortunate, but I remember another incident when there was no communication between him and the defence and Morrison eventually hacked it away when Sullivan should have claimed it. That day the defence had no confidence in him, and how we got away with only 1-0 is a mystery to me (though the lino disallowing a perfectly good goal helped). As I say, though, that game was under particularly trying circumstances. I'm not writing him off. I just prefer Hamer.
Well from CP's comments at the Bromley Addicks meeting, it appears it will be the same side that played against Notts County. He basically said what Stu said about having another chance, and that they have played well over the 30etc games and had one bad half.
I don't get this. twice in recent weeks CP has said he will use the squad then he doesn't. I know the side should have the chance to make good on its mistakes but this is getting stupid now.
I'm starting to see some Parkinson traits creeping back in 1) Getting in a loan player, to play left mid, when we had a squad player who could play the position; 2) Sticking with a favoured player, who is out of form, when the back-up player is available; 3) Bringing in a player, then putting him in the matchday squad, even though his inclusion is dubious (Clarke). This is a slight concern to me
These things are a concern to all of us All hell. However if CP can get us to where we are in his first full season in management with only raising those concerns of pill parkin traits, then I believe he has done well. Let us see how we finish the season before we get over concerned. Every manager has bought in the odd "dog" in strange circumstances. Every manager has had concerns about how a replacement squad player will step up to the mark and over reacted. It is part of human nature. Let us evaluate the season in May.
Scratching, I think the problem is that we also have a novice Assistant Manager, I think a lot of the credit for the performance of the Croydon Club this season is down to the advice of our Lenny.... a dream management team for me would be Powell/Lawrence !
Wouldn't read too much in to the Dyer thing, if you remember last season he told CP to avoid signing Nouble, but he did it anyway.
Exactly Mary, Chris needed a stronger No 2, somebody he would accept advice from. It worries me that during matches, Chris sits on advertising hoardings away from the rest of the management team as if to say "Don't talk to me"
I think you will find that Alex Dyer has held his badges longer than Chris P. I know that CP tends to stand away for periods of time, but so does every manager, when he want AD's advice he seeks it and when AD wants to give advice, he gives it - nothing unusual in that.
Jimbob, judging by the poll numbers, not as unanimous as you would think ! Also, BBC reports that Scunthorpe would have won but for Hamer saves today. Any comments boys ??

A big if in there Stu. What if Sullivan had commanded the box better than Hamer. Would Wiggins have given away the penalty. From all reports on here it is felt what lets Sully down is his distribution not his keeping. Had he played maybe (another big if) we would have won one nil?
Pleased for Hamer. He owed us a big performance and appears to have had one. Just watched the highlights. Morro at fault for penalty but I do feel that he is not very trusting of the keeper at the moment. Hope they sort it out. Oi Stu! You only picked him to be awkward. Don't you get all high and mighty now me old mucker!!!!
Always best not to write at 3.00 in the morning when you are running a temperature. Have just looked at the highlights and am happy to retract my earlier comments. That said i still believe Sully deserves a chance to show what he can do with a short run in the team.
