Friedel definitely has 1 more season in him. After that, I'd quite like us to go for Vorm, Krul or promote Ben Alnwick. Ben Alnwick was a joke.
David Button seems to think that he might have a shot at a place in the squad next season: http://www.just-football.com/2012/0..._campaign=Feed: Just-football (Just-Football) Anyone know how's he's done with these loans?
It seems he wrote "Ben Alnwick was a joke" in white text (when I attempted to quote him). Too right, he's shocking.
I'd edit that post about Alnwick if I were you, SL. You've wandered unwittingly into an experts field here, not me btw, a certain Spurs goalkeeping scout, he will want to know what on earth you base that on.
I said Al-Habsi and Stockdale on old606 Dona, so there! I also managed to spell both names correctly... I wonder if he's like the David Beckham of Oman? No other ****er in their squad even plays in Europe.
Al-Habsi is a good shout. Overall i'm not too concerned by our keeper situation as brad can stay on for another year and could even hold his own for another year after that if needed. Also in general there seems to be alot of good quality keepers about, with teams that are known to sell when bids come in so wouldn't expect any hassle finding a keeper.
yeah oooook PNP...i never saw you once mention him....but i do find him to be consistent behind a shabby defence..imagine if he was behind a slightly less shabby defence..he would be great! p.s name spelled properly now Ens..cheers..lol
Ron-Robert Zieler, Marc-Andre ter Stegen or Laurentiu Branescu (though the last one's very unlikely due to his current team) for me.
Did you pick them for that reason, CS? You'd better hope that we don't employ ex-Barcelona technical director Txiki Beguiristain, Dona!
City are after him..ive heard hes useful...infact we are after him aswell i think in order to re structure the way we do things at the club?
I still wonder whether Levy thinks that the continental way of doing things is the right way to go, Dona. He did away with the DOF role for Redknapp, but if he joins the England set up then I wouldn't be surprised to see it make a return. An inexperienced coach (Rodgers, AVB, Martinez, Poyet, Hughton?) working with a far more experienced Technical Director/DOF or whatever (Van Gaal, Beguiristain?) might suit his vision for the club. I don't think that the current crop of owner and directors in the league are convinced that having one man doing everything is the best idea.
it has worked for centuries and i think the old set up is still the best way...unless the manager chooses the technical director..in which case he may aswell call him the 'chief scout'.
Leave the set-up as it is and if Levy wants to fly over to croatia and bring back the next Modric, drop him outside the managers door with a note "the next big thing, no pressure, just thought he may do well with the team" then I don't think anyone will complain!
I'm not going purely on FM, there are articles about top young keepers, and their names keep cropping up.
