Yeah apparently only good goals count now, Premiership points are being recalculated right now and Arsenal are favourites for the title.

It would do but a little known FA rule states that whenever Joey Barton is on the pitch each goal scored by the team he represents is construed as an OG by the team that Barton plays for.

    We're relegated.

"27 apps and 6 goals is his real stat, and 2 of those 6 goals were pens and 1 was a flukey tap in vs Wigan."

20 starts and 6 goals is his real stat. 0.3 goals a game. Very respectable.

And yes, his stats include penalties and tap ins. So did Shearer's (though of course he manage over .4 goals a game).

NEWCASTLE United are today reported to have cooled their interest in relegated West Ham’s striker Carlton Cole.

Cole - who was signed by Magpies boss Alan Pardew during his time at Upton Park - is certain to leave East London this summer.

He would cost about £7m, and several national papers have linked him with a move to the North East.

However, he has struggled for form this season, and Pardew is expected to look elsewhere in his search for a replacement for Andy Carroll.

    * Would Carlton Cole be a good signing for Newcastle? Take part in Today’s Vote by clicking ‘yes’ or ‘no’ in the panel to the right of this story.

Fingers crossed, probably a more reliable source than most.

The poll so far is a 100% NO to Cole (14 people have voted) :D

Can't get out of my head the pictures of Cole being interviewed after the ManU Carling Cup game when it looked like he was about to burst into Flames! There must be something biologically wrong with him!!

Please, Please Please lets hope it is just paper talk. We have one big lump and lazy centre forward and we certainly don't need another, especially one that may cost us a good few quid.
    Keep him West Ham PLEASE.

A year or so ago I would have loved us to sign Carlton Cole because of goals like this:

But, sadly now he is gash!

    Possibly, but he is inconsistent

Wouldn't be as devestated as most people if we signed him, but would prefer someone more classy :)

ON HIS DAY he's probably better than all of our strikers(maybe you could put him on par with Best in terms of ability) and that's not saying much is it?

We need a CLASS/QUALITY striker next season, not a mediocre PL one who's team have just been relegated. <ok>

I might cry if we sign him, especially for 7mil. Why pay that much for a striker we know is nothing special when we can spend half as much on one that might be
