Karl Henry's QPR move from Wolves stalls

Midfielder Karl Henry’s future was today unclear after he came back to Wolves following talks with Queens Park Rangers.

The 30-year-old travelled to west London for discussions on Saturday but they ended without agreement.

Head coach Kenny Jackett said: “Karl has had some conversations with Queens Park Rangers but I don’t think it’s come to a head.

"He was there on Saturday but then he was playing for our under-21s in the training ground game against West Ham.

“It doesn’t seem as if it’s about to go ahead. I don’t know if that it’s irretrievable, but no deal has been done.”

It’s also unclear as to the make up of any proposed move, with Henry having three years left on his contract and due a hefty signing-on fee each 12 months.

Jackett said: "The transfer fees and wages are quite often mixed into one so it’s perhaps a little simplistic to look at a potential deal.

“But anyway, although there have been conversations, it’s not come to fruition and, at present, he’s a Wolves player.”

Henry is one of four players transfer-listed with Roger Johnson, Stephen Ward and Jamie O’Hara.

Meanwhile, Jackett wants to sign a left-sided player before the League One opener at Preston.

Wolves were linked with a £300,000 bid for Leeds left-back or winger Aiden White, 21, at the weekend.

Zeli Ismail played wide on the left and scored the opener in Saturday’s 2-2 friendly draw at Barnsley, while substitute Leigh Griffiths featured as a left-sided attacker as Wolves played 4-3-3 for the last 26 minutes.

Jackett said: “You’re always looking for one or two and we’re working hard at trying to identify potential targets. That’s ongoing.

“I’m pleased with the players’ work ethic, but we definitely need to try to improve from outside.”

Bakary Sako (hamstring) and Kevin Doyle (groin) are set to return in tomorrow’s friendly at Chesterfield.

plus the fact i havent enjoyed a game in well over a year.

This is what the yanks call a depth chart, why do we need any more old CM donkeys?

    ---------------------- 18 - Remy--------25 - Zamora
    ----------------------- 8 - AJ

    23 - Hoilett----------------------------------------------------12 - Mackie
    10 - Taarabt-------------------------------------------------11 - Wright-Philips

    -------------------xx - Jenas----------4 - Derry
    -------------------2 - Diakite---------14 - Granero
    -------------------7 - Park------------40 - Mbia
    -------------------32 - Faurlin--------xx - Barton

    xx - Young-Suk--------6 - Hill------------15 - Onuoha-----------xx - Simpson
    3 - Traore-------------xx - Dunne----------------------------------xx - Young

    -----------------------------Green
    ----------------------------Murphy

We need 2 or 3 forwards, a LW(to replace Taarabt), a RW(to replace SWP or Mackie), a LB (to replace Traore), 1 or 2 CBs and a RB (for Young). CM is the only outfield position we dont need to strengthen.

Its a good point but I suspect three or even four of those midfielders are on their way out.

We could get rid of 4 and even then we still have 2 per position which is whats needed.

"Henry at his best - Good work rate, plenty of effort, no real intelligence to his play, no great technique but he got in the way often enough, made things awkward for opponents and got the ball to someone more talented. Fairly easy to replace.

Henry at his worst - Dawdling around the pitch, offers the resistance of a light mist until he decides to foul someone, spends an age on the ball doing nothing with it. Complete waste of a shirt.

I imagine Harry/QPR have decided that dropping to the Championship means they need more 'steel' to their side and have sought someone with a bit of a scrapper mentality, i expect them to be sadly disappointed when they're greeted with a shell of a footballer, walzing around, rarely getting close enough to any opponent to make a difference and offering $#@! all with the ball at his feet."

" I don't now if he's a capable Championship player ANYMORE, he didn't look like one last year, very few did. "

plus apparently hes had an attitude problem for the last 2 years thinking hes better than he is.

    LATEST TRANSFER GOSSIP
Queens Park Rangers hope to complete the £1million signing of Wolves captain Karl Henry today, reports the London Evening Standard.

It is claimed Henry is in London for a medical and Harry Redknapp believes the 30‑year-old can play a major role in helping Rangers win promotion back to the Premier League.

"I've always liked Karl," said the QPR manager in the Standard. "He's a good sort, he's a competitor. He looks like he wants to win."

From the BBC website. Its all going even more wrong.

    He's a good sort

Oh well I suppose natural talent, creative verve, chipping in with wonder goals and an ability to wow the crowd is too much to hope for

    Swap Adel for Henry

    Great

Not sure about this. If he has the right attitude he will give us some steel in midfield but can be liability as well and sometimes sees the redmist.

I think i may be the only one on here who thinks he'll be a good signing last season we really lacked any fighting spirit in our team apart from hill and couple others. you need some steel in the midfield as it looks as if we wont get Parker Henry could do a job for us. All the players who we have bought in who I thought would be good signings from the glamours clubs of real madrid, man utd and chelsea turned out to be complete sh*t so from now on whoever we bring in from league one or is just plan boring, these are the players I’m backing to shine in the coming season. If I’m right or wrong I think we shouldn’t write him off just yet or make him the escape goat if all goes tits up.

Monty Python - The Tale Of The Piranha Brothers

Stig: He was a smashing bloke. He used to buy his mother flowers and that. He was like a brother to me.

Mrs Simmel: Oh yes Kipling Road was a typical East End Street, people were in and out of each other's houses with each other's property all day (John Terry family). They were a cheery lot.

Interviewer: Was it a terribly violent area

Mrs Simmel: Oh no......yes. Cheerful and violent. I remember Doug was very keen on boxing, but when he learned to walk he took up putting the boot in the groin. He was very interested in that. His mother had a terrible job getting him to come in for tea. Putting his little boot in he'd be, bless him. All the kids were like that then, they didn't have their heads stuffed with all this Cartesian dualism. (Barton's problem)
