In which case I will cherish the between season break and rewrite all our matchday threads like I did on the gooner board
Why won’t he? The season hasn’t even ended yet and he’s already gone public. The longer this goes on, the more he will get agitated and worried that he won’t get his move to City.
He’s clearly intent on leaving and feels he has a gentleman’s agreement with Levy dating back to last summer. His team probably thought they needed to do this before the season ends and holidays are taken, then we’re into the Euro’s soon enough. So they’ve felt it had to brought to a head now. Players rarely do this kind of stuff unless their next move has been put on the table, I’d wager he knows where he wants to go and there’s been contact made. If Levy digs his heels in and either refuses point blank to consider offers for him, or puts a ludicrous price on his head, then it’ll get interesting. Once players take this sort of position if usually only ends up one way though, but Levy has brass balls, so we’ll see.
Selling Kane to another PL club basically just says to every Spurs fan that the club has given up on trying to win the PL and is happy to be also rans. Years ago when we were just top 6 hopefuls, we sold to our rivals, but these days we are a different club with higher aspirations, so should not be selling our best players to (and strengthening) our rivals, unless it is an absolutely ridiculous offer. If Kane wants to leave, he should be sold abroad if possible, if not, then he stays at Spurs, the only way he is sold to another PL club is if Levy`s valuation is met, which will be considerable and rightly so. Levy would sell him abroad for a slightly lesser fee, there should be a hefty premium for selling our best player and England captain to another PL club. I get the impression Kane believes £100m will be enough for a PL club to buy him, in that interview with Nevile, he mentions that figure, which is probably what his potential new employers have told him they are prepared to pay. I would be staggered if Levy let Kane join another PL club for just £100m, and if he did, then he should resign with immediate effect. Getting absolute top dollar for his best players is Levy`s last remaining area of expertise that the fans trust him with, selling Kane cheap would see him finished once and for all, and he is teetering on the edge already.
It’s true mate...in these games he became as oblivious as the rest. To be right up there you have to be a big game player...do or die and you know your best player is going to be on it. Something Gerrard had in him, not comparing the 2 players...I’m talking about this key ingredient. I guess he will join City, win loads and people will say it was never Kane it was everyone else but we know because we have watched every second of these games and we have seen how Kane was also clueless in the big ones, the one offs. It’s massively important if you want to win things and you so happen to be the best player. You’re the leader, you must up your game and raise everyone else’s, they look to you for that inspiration...once again like Gerrard used to do. in the league he can’t do it himself or him and Son week in week out but in the one offs in the cup games our star players have left a lot to be desired...thems the facts and without a doubt a massive contribution to our failures at key stages of the past 5/6 seasons.
Harry Kane's the best player that the club has produced since Hoddle and the best that we've had since Modric or Bale. Like those two, he wants to play for a team that wins things and plays CL every season, not finish ninth and listen to the mouthpiece for a billionaire bullshitting on about 'To Dare is to Do' whilst buying players incapable of daring or even doing. It's bloody obvious that he would want to leave now...he said that he'd stay whilst we were progressing and we've been in reverse for three seasons. Anyone blaming him for wanting to leave is letting the owners off the hook. They have forgotten that this is supposed to be a ****ing football club, not just a huge investment to exploit. If a fraction of the time spent on the NFL, stadium build, High Street regeneration, ESL, etc., had gone into planning and managing what's supposed to be our primary activity, there's a very good chance Harry Kane would be staying.
I am confused. You've been calling for Levy not to be involved in football decisions. You now say he should have spent more time on football. I agree with that in principle but when you have a billion pound project going on it is inevitable the Board will be over stretched. I think the problem is that they trusted Poch and Mourinho too much on recruitment. We could have had Tielemans a year early instead of waiting for Ndombele and Bruno Fernandes should have been our top priority in the next window instead of betting on Sessegnon and Clarke. Although we are all exercising 20:20 hindsight on those calls. As for the signings under Mourinho we should have got two £50m players instead of Doherty, Hojbjerg, Reguilon, Bergwijn and Rodon and kept Kyle Walker-Peters.
There's no need to be confused...it's so very simple. I can't imagine why you would think that I'm asking for Levy to be doing this work. He's absolutely ****ing useless at it. I've been saying for years that the club's become too big for Levy to run it all. He needs to divest himself of individual responsibility for projects and manage properly experienced and qualified deputies. We need a full time, competent and experienced DoF to do this. The owners need to run this club professionally now...not like some ****ing hobby. Only you think it should be Levy...although for the life of me, I can't imagine why?
I would argue how many chances do you remember him having in those finals? I don't actually know but i do remember not much being created in the most recent finals
I noticed this a while ago "Levy needs to spend less time involved with footballing decisions" Levy installs Steve Hitchen in a role that takes Levy out of footballing decisions "No, not like that!" And as I'm on the subject of Hitchen, I see the Two Minutes Hate has predictably extended to his Wikipedia page
Let's see if the Pond Life regulars decide to have a pile-on in the replies to that one, eh? Also, why is Not Internet Explorer being weird about copy/pasting links?
