But then against stronger teams the whole side has struggled, if he was struggling against weaker teams I'd be much more concerned. I thought when he came on vs Preston he looked good, lifted the team.
Or he's reliant, against better teams, on a strong midfield and defence to give him the ball which he's starved of.
In yesterdays's game, as the op's video shows, he was coming much further back than usual to collect the ball, and knowing that he was against a weak team, that he could use his speed to his advantage. In the earlier game he was "the star" player ( Bolton or Burton, can't recall), he had sussed out a weak team, and knew he could take advantage. He picks his moments, imo, against that level of opposition, yet fades into the background against stronger teams. He should be exhibiting the same desire and intensity against all opposition, particularly if the defensive/midfield units are struggling. If you're being starved, you search for sustenance and shouldn't expect it to be handed to you on a plate...you should venture into the kitchen.
I thought his pass/assist to Larsson, note it was with his left foot, was superb. Also after taking his goal well, he welcomed the congrats of his teammates, who seemed only too happy to join in. Frustrating player - maybe, but more than enough quality to tear this league up. Comment above about needing the team around him is valid imho.
He is doing ok and played well in attack yesterday, although predominantly he turns up against weaker teams He needs to consistently be up for it I just don't like his body language, his lack of interest when the opposition have the ball and his massive sulks when Meyler won't let him take penalties All that said I'm glad he's got his own song now
frustrating player indeed- did anyone see when we were awarded the penalty -Meyler steps up as if to say " eff off Kamil I'm taking it" and Seb was trying to placate Kamil who I imagine was whining like a girl.... me me me !!!-or maybe I just dreamt it??
It happened, and it’s that kind of dickery that means I can never warm to Grosicki. Not a team player.
It's happened a couple of times, I'm surprised we don't have a designated penalty taker, to remove all doubt. There was a bit of play just after the game restarted after the penalty, Grosicki had the ball and Meyler was the obvious pass, but he looked up, saw it was him and passed it back to Clark instead.
Slut should sort that and name the 1st choice penalty taker, grosicki although he wasn't happy with mayler taking it he was the first to celebrate with him when it went in
It's surprising how often football teams appear publicly to be in doubt about who the taker is. You'd think managers would have a designated taker and would ensure that no one would attempt to deviate from it.
They usually do, every team I've played for or managed has known who the penalty taker was and who was next inline should that player not be able to take it, same with freekicks, corners etc
I think meyler takes a cracking pen. It looks to me that he enjoys it, some others you have to drag them kicking and screaming... look at his body language when he runs up, full of confidence, then there's the ****ers you just know will miss....
Didn't Brucey stop jelavic from taking one to give it to Abel. Sure he did. I can't understand why it isn't Campbell. Didn't cloughy say summat like your my number nine young man you will take the penalties.
Well he should be better than the boy David. I've maybe mentioned it before but I used to take pens and no water carrying midfield player takes a penalty in front of Chazz.
