He is a striker but played out of position at Chelsea and it's not like we are blessed in this department. As I mentioned at his current club has a 1 in 2 roughly goal ratio. I know he is ex Chelsea and so was Paul furlong... its not like we are an established team able to buy top notch players. I realise it's good to buy young players but someone with prem experience and can score is a must. Plus he has a few years in him left to play. At 3 million that is a bargain compared to hooper.

None of this can be argued with, but after the Boswinga debacle it would be a brave man to bring in another player With that sort of baggage.

If he came he might be a revelation, but a couple of poor performances and the crowd would be all over him. £3m sounds very cheap... any reason for that? What's his relationship like with his current club? Is he a bit of a prima donna they are trying to get rid of?

It all comes down to one thing - would he really 'want' to play for us, or would it be a means to the end of getting him back in the PL shop window. Given the fact that it's going to be a tough season, we need mentally strong individuals who can cope with a bit of adversity. He never struck me as that kind of player.

Kalou 'wants to return to Premier League this summer'

Lille striker Salomon Kalou reportedly wants to return to the Premier League this summer – and could be available for £3m.

According to Sky Sports, the Ivory Coast international is being tracked by Italian club Roma but the 28-year-old is delaying a decision on his future until he can negotiate a move back to England in the coming months.

The publication claims that the former Chelsea striker would prefer to sign for Arsenal, but, that any deal with the Gunners this summer is unlikely because the north London outfit have already bought Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona.

However, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur – as well as a host of other European clubs – are believed to be keeping an eye on Kalou with reports suggesting that Lille could be tempted to sell the forward for £3m.

Kalou – who spent six years with Chelsea before making the move to Ligue 1 outfit Lille on a free transfer in 2012 – scored 16 goals for Les Dogues last season.
