Even the Chelsea fans have nicknamed him Kalouless.

    Good shout SouthCoast.

I think it was Ashley Cole on Soccer AM recently who said he was the most skillful player at the club and has pace to burn. He's a fairly decent age and scores consistently (although not prolifically) in a team where he's stuck out wide and doesn't get given a prolonged run in the side to even prove his full worth.

    An emphatic yes from me.

Agree. Kalou is nowhere near as bad as some would have you believe.

In response to Nines he is nicknamed that but Chelsea fans like all fans are fickle. The number of times I heard Drogba, Ramires and even Cole slated just because they didn't hit the ground running, yet now people will proclaim them to be the best thing since sliced bread. I spent years defending Drogba and months defending Ramires so a lot of Chelsea fans don't know a good player when they see one and this is coming from a Chelsea fan too.

People are quick to forget the vital goals Kalou has scored against our biggest rivals. I can think of at least two match winning goals of his that secured us the 3 points v West Ham and Spurs.

People also forget that Kalou was signed as a promising 20 year old at a time when we had a squad full of genuinely world class players like Duff, Robben etc so he was always going to be compared to them rather than the likes of Del Horno and Malouda as he should have been

Honestly, I recon Hughes would love to sign him. As would Wenger, Redknapp, whoever gets the hot seat at Liverpool, and both of the Manchester clubs. And Newcastle. For some reason, every single manager in the Premier League seems to love him.

But whenever I've seen him, he reminds me of Adel on a bad day - trying to do too much, carrying the ball when he should pass, shooting when there are players in better positions, etc. etc.

Don't get me wrong, he's a better player than Adel. He's just onethat I can see being the brunt of a few jokes and getting stick from the crowd - especially as he's ex-Chelsea. And as I said, there are better clubs that will be interested in him.

Don't know why they didn't give him an extension last year, and at least try to sell him though. DL, any thoughts?

Club policy. For some reason we always let contracts run out but funnily enough Kalou is one of few players of resale value we have. Could have made £6m from him comfortably but he is allegedly on 80k wages which is way too much for a fringe player

    You mean like Barton? :D

Not that I believe he's actually on £80k, mind you.

Yup, it must be around that figure as I remember he was on something like 70k before the new contract

Don't often agree with Wats but you can't argue with this.

I think you can consider his nut sorted thanks to Hughes.

Jeff, you're suggesting I'm on something when I say Kalou is better than Adel? Seriously?

District, over the last 4-5 managers you've seen at Chelsea, how many do you think would have picked Taarabt over Kalou to start in the Champions League final?

houston you didn't say it was over one game only that he was a better player to which i disagreed with, still think the scum made the wrong choice picking him even though they won.

Ok, DL, if Adel was in your 25 man squad, how many games do you recon he'd have started?

Not many. He isn't interested in defending or tracking back which you need in a 4-2-3-1

I remember you were negative about Bosingwa early in the season to the effect that you thought we had a chance if he played against us at LR. After that I watched him several occasions and I must say you were correct he always seemed to be your weak link, however in the champions league he played a few blinders I thought he did great in the final?
And because of that I really don't know what to make of him now!
