I wouldnt say so, we are paying Sturridge about 50k p/w at the moment I think. The kid can score but at Arsenal he would play second fiddle to RVP and Podolski just as he played second fiddle to Drogba and Torres at Chelsea. Not worth paying 90k p/w for a bench warmer in my opinion. If you could get him for around 50k per week id say go for it. Actually no I wouldnt, Id say hands off, as he is a class player and he is ours!!
Podolski will probably play on the left Wing and I think Rvp will leave though that is obviously subjective
Thank god someone said that, I was beginning to think I was the only one. Very average player. We have enough of them, I've no desire to add another.
This is unlikely as Chelsea see Sturridge as the future, who will probably be offered around 80k-100k wages to stay. But even if he was to leave, he would carry a transfer fee of around the 15m-20m mark. Add to that, he wants to play through the centre and i doubt he would get that chance as Podolski would be considered first. Quotes from Sturridge: "You never know what is going to happen in the future," Sturridge revealed. "Everyone is going to evaluate the season that they've had, the club will certainly evaluate players and I will certainly evaluate my situation. "Obviously I see myself as a centre-forward and hopefully next season I will be able to achieve that feat because I don't see myself playing on the wing."
To replace Rvp we can't rely on one replacement we will also need depth. Strurridge should get chances as striker though i recognise getting him is a long shot
Sturridge has always struck me as a massive w*nker. I'd much rather sign him than Kalou though as he has ability.
It's less to do with rating him and more to do with desperation Ammar. I mean, Podolski was a good buy but it's taken us ages to get anyone of any note in. We know from recent past experiences that our transfer deals are far from extravagant...
I think our bargaining chip when it comes to wages is that we're realistically the only club he has a prospect of going to which can both pay him somewhat decent wages (not what he's used to, but still decent) and offer Champions League football next season.
I actually agree with this. Can't believe you lot are settling for Kalou! High wages, **** player. I'm grateful for everything he's done over the years but the bad points definitely outweigh the good points with Kalou!
To be honest it was AVB who stuck him out wide, I think Di Matteo will be using him as understudy to Torres provided RDM stays, with a new signing bought for the right wing position. Sturridge can be an arrogant prick at times but I think if we play him correctly we'll see the best of him so therefore I hope we keep him - hands off
Not a chance mate, I'll keep it in his honour after that last kick of his! Besides, I hear mods can't change their names!
- or opinions !!!!! mind you Pisk is slowly coming round, there's hope for him yet. Anyway - congrats on a terrific season finale..... I did say someone is gonna beat Barca, but I didn't think Bayern would mess up .
Just for you - we don't want him ever playing against us.....
I think thats why we (Chelsea) are getting rid to be honest. We could sign a younger, better, player on the same, if not less, wages,
