Kalou OUT !

never wanted to start this despite of all his mis-adventures..

But after seeing the CL team list where Lukaku is overlooked in favor of clueless Kalou - cannot help but to start this.

would rather have kept Yossi and sent Kalou on free to Gunners if I were AVB..

I think this is over the top.

He was a very important player in the run in to our double winning season which seems quickly forgotten.

I'm not for him starting but he is a good impact player as he has pace, a trick and is unpredictable. People need to get of his back and start supporting a young lad who's been at the club for years. We don't neek Lukaku in the squad given the wealth of talent we have in the number 9 position.

Lukaku is behind Torres and Drogba for the central striker role. Kalou is fighting it out with Sturridge and Anelka for the right hand side of the three. Kalou is a good impact player but hasn't always done well when he's started games. I would rather had Lukaku in the CL squad than Kalou though even if they are earmarked for different positions.

I feel players are often judged by fans on what they do when they have the ball, and not so much is thought about them when they attack without it. Also if they are classed as an attacker, what they do when defending. I've always seen Kalou as a Spaceman. A couple of questions. How often do we see Kalou give away a silly foul to the opposition in a dangerous position? How frequently does Kalou do something they creates an opportunity for the opposition in our half of the pitch? When going forward with the ball he does tend to lose it, but generally well forward. He is twenty eight and has years of Premiership and Champions league and International experience and is far from naive. He does seem to lack ninety minutes concentration, but most of his errors happen from when he tries to be creative going forward. The big plus of course is that he wants to play for Chelsea and isn't looking constantly to disrupt the team with personal demands for starts and more money. The fans demands for more and more glory for them to take credit for by just being a fan narrows their vision to goals, saves, penalties and how good/bad the opposition fans are.

Kalous ****ing **** how anyone can say his good is beyond me, as a sub yeh his alright now and again but when he starts his awful i'd rather have turnbull playing up front than kalou, look at our team now and how you can tell me kalou should be ahead of anyone else up front is pathetic, he does **** all and his ****

He has had 6 years at the club and is still the same headless chicken as the day he arrived. Has always had the potential to beat his marker but will 9 times out of ten then balloon his shot into the top row of the shed. I agree with the guy who said he was a big player at the the end of the double season because surprisingly he actually was but i really cant see him playing many games this season at all.
My 1st choice front 3 would be Mata, Torres and Sturridge and 2nd choice Malouda Drogba and Anelka add to that the exciting Lukaku and you could quite easily make a case for Kalou being the worst attacking player we currently have.

So because of a few good games in our double season his a good player? Well drogba only has about 1-2 years to go and considering torres' previous history of injuries we need a young quality striker, you obviously under-rate lukaku which is quite stupid, go watch some of his videos, including the norwich game where he had about 10minutes and looked good, he has pace,skill,the build, the power he is the mini-drogba, and to think you'd rather have Kalou over the potential of Lukaku lol forget Lukaku for a minute because his the future but can you honestly say Kalou should be ahead of any of these
Anelka,Sturridge,Mata,Malouda,Drogba,Torres ? If i won the lottery i'd quite happily pay another team to buy kalou just to get him out of our club

Talk about miss the point.

Yes Drogba only has 1-2 years left but he will play in the C.L THIS season wont he. Therefore with Nico, Drogba, Torres and even Sturridge competing for the sole striker role, do we really need a 5th player in what is a limited numbers C.L squad?? Lukaku's chance will come but we dont need him at this moment.

Kalou on the other hand has bags of european experience, can play wide on either side and through the middle, has pace and give us something slightly different. Just seems that some fans want to get on his back because he losses the ball now and again and balloons a shot now and then (probably the same fans who though J Cole was brilliant). Everyone needs players like Kalou who can come on and change a game and also don't make a fuss about sitting on the bench.

And no I'm not saying he is ahead of the 6 players you have mentioned but that is irrelevant to the debate because it is only Lukuku not those 6 who are not in the squad.

I'm sorry, but for me Kalou has been a very important member of our squad who has popped up time and time again to put away a vital goal.As far as Lukaku is concerned, it seems a bit premature to make comparisons with someone who is yet to prove himself!

You know when you buy say a new orange Citroen ( Change colour and car model to suit you) because for whatever reason you want to and like it and it has the modern, fresh and exclusive look to it. Then during the first week driving about, you spot identical orange Citroens everywhere when before you could of swore the one you just bought was the first you'd ever seen. The thing happens when you are pregnant or your partner becomes pregnant for the first time, all of a sudden you notice that where you live appears to be full of pregnant women. This is is purely a function of the brain as part of the normal processing of information. Put simply you focus more intently what comes into your life.

OK Polar Bear, you say what has this got to do with football and Kalou? Have you just eaten a dodgy manky seal burger and started to ramble? No actually. In football this processing effect is why keepers are known for the few bad mistakes they makes above and over all the good things they did. David Seaman lobbed by Nayim from the halfway line, we all remember that. The years of highly consistent and rock like performances errrrrrrrrr wait I'm sure he had some didn't he. Mud, they say, sticks. When you stand there in clean clothes weeks on end someone will turn to a mate and say remember when he was covered in mud that time, and forever you are Mr. Muddy. Yes Kalou has been covered in mud, but add the good against the bad and you get an experienced and valuable squad player.

I think if you can point a finger at one thing or person and say to everyone, there you go that is your problem, get rid of it you simpletons and everything will be alright, you come across as sagacious, benevolent and worthy of admiration as the saviour. This is why is it done. Doesn't make it right though.

Fans all have diifferent opinions on players and opinions is what football is all about. We could open up a similar thread about Mikel and our fans will all have different opinions on him too. I personally dont think Kalou is good enough for a top team and especially now when we have several attacking options but im not gonna force feed my opinions on anybody who disagrees. Everybody is entitled to a opinion so i,ll just leave it at that

Yeah LAJF, I was thinking about Obi Wan as well. We demand our players to be 10 out of 10 every match. You're right we have our own opinions on players. We pick our favourites often for arbitory reasons and sometimes for because of something that happened one time and for us that made that player for us in our eye. Same thing happens when one mucks up. For some that player can never be considered a favourite or even good. I'd extend what you say about Mikel to everyplayer in every team. Believe it or not I once saw Le Tiss have a a couple of stinkers in a row! No, honest it's true. Fortunately for him his brillance was well established before, although this didn't stop a group of fans calling him lazy in every match he played, just as Lampard is fat, just as Roy Keane was/is a nutter.

Psychology is still a completely mysterious world and it's study is impacting all of us in all of our lives. Of course it has always been there, but it's effects have been attributed to other things, just like when primative people heard thunder and saw the sparks come down from the sky and said yep them Gods sure are angry. Look at great teams before 'Sports Psychologists' were about. Listen to what the players said after their careers. 'He was like the father I never had, 'He was like a second father to me', we were a band of brothers, we would die for each other.'. The team dynamic, group dynamic in any consistantly successful side is a Family dynamic. You don't throw someone out of your Family for under achievement.

There a many groups of well paid, highly self-motivated and talented footballers in our league. In essence they are interchangeable as individuals, indeed this happens a lot twice a year in the transfer windows. Why does one group consistantly achieve victorys over the others? Is it because one group just happened to trade for the group of the most fittest and talented? Or is there other things going on in that group that boosts their performances? Think of the team you consider the best, apart from Chelsea that is. Do you think that team has a player like Kalou in it? If so who would you say it is? Is that team still very successful? Did that player you are thinking of contribute to that success? Errrr those questions aren't just aimed at you LAJF, indeed nor is this post, but for everyone to consider and think about. Phew thats a relief, ill still be carrying my rifle next time i visit the arctic though can never be to careful.

I get you mate about the physcology of a football fan. Mikel will always get stick because he is not the all action type of player Essien is, Obi has other good qualities but because he is not charging around at 100 mph breaking forward and screaming 1 into the top corner fans will get on his back. I sit in the Shed and if Mikel misplaces a pass he gets massive stick i.e "he's useless" "get him off" type of thing, however if somebody like Frank misplaces a pass there will be a few groans but its quickly forgotten. Im guilty of it myself, wrongly i have a few favourites that in my eyes can do no wrong, the likes of Lampard and Terry i can justify from their loyalty and commitment to the club but i also find myself favouring Torres and defending why he has been such a big disapointment. So why do i class Torres as a favourite? I have no real idea and cant really justify it by his performances for our club but my mind subcontiously must of just adopted him as a favourite. No real reason to it

I get your other point too, i have nothing personal against Kalou he has given decent service to our club, he has been happy to be a squad player who rarely kicks up a fuss and more importingly he has scored some important goals for us. The 3-3 draw at the bridge in the Fa Cup vs Spurs a few years back sticks in my memory, his goal sent the game to a replay and we ended going on to lift the cup. Big clubs do need squad players, United have had plenty throughout the years who i never really rated in footballing terms but because they understood what it was like to play for Man United they tended to play at a level way above thier ability.
The problem i have with Kalou is in my opinion he has never really progressed enough during his 6 years at the club, we now have several attacking options and if Sturridge continues to progress then Kalou's game time is going to be even less than in recent seasons. Would be interesting seeing him play as a true striker in a team such as Everton or Newcastle, i think he could probably shine in a team like that.

I have no problem with replacing Sturridge ahead of Kalou in the pecking order. I would not even attempt to make a case to start Kalou right now (except he got the first goal in a very good Ivory Coast team this week). I would not sell him though, or indeed any Chelsea player right now, unless they wanted to go.
