Me too, I loved those days when Italian football was everything. I remember the days when Italian footballers were cooler than cool. Evani please log in to view this image
I would say the 89 team easily. Dont think they were invincible but that team must of been amazing judging from what I saw the players achieve later in their careers Ancellotti was in that team and from all accounts he was a superb footballer.
The 91/2 and 92/3 Milan sides were the best; invincible in 91/2 and almost so in 92.3 until MVB got injured. They scored a lot more goals than 87/8 Serie A winners and the 94 side who were boring. They scored four on the counter v Barca but only scored 36 goals all season in Serie A. The 92 invincibles scored double that and went 58 league games unbeaten
It's luck in a common sense way. To have drawn that many games means they never had a moment of bad luck that put the game beyond them, like a last minute penalty, or a silly sending off, or a fluke goal, or a defensive blunder from an otherwise capable player. These things happen to all teams at all times, yet Juve seem to have escaped the kind of bad luck that leads to defeats, although they probably have plenty of it that leads to draws. Luck conspired to make these bad things happen to them at particular times and not others.
Even though you can split the milan of that era into two sides I think the defence was fairly constant. I think that extended era (i.e. maybe from 88-95) this milan side were exceptional and have to rival the current barca side who have been exceptional probably for 3-4 years now.
To say all italians defend well /italian football is more centred around defence surely is an oxymoron. if you have two teams looking just to sit back and defend, then neither teams defences will ever be under threat ? chelsea , arsenal and man city have shown in the champs league against italian teamss that if you actually go out and attack the defences , they leak goals
