for a moment.

We have enjoyed debating our signings, we are chuffed about the academy, we have enjoyed preseason games, we have debated the transfers real, potentail and just plain stupid, we have our season tickets in our hands, we are in the PL, we are really looking forward to the start of the season and we are as excited and as optimistic as it is possible to be.

Now just imagine that all of that was snatched away from you and we no longer had a club.

That could happen to Pompey this week. Their fans (love them or not) will have lost an irreplaceable and very important chunk of their lives.

I have my fingers crossed for them and hope that the Trust and the City come riding in at the last minute to rescue them.

The time for mocking, piss taking and generally teasing the life out of them is over. It is deadly serious now.

Rumours abound that staff have been told to empty their desks. Whethher this is true or not I don't know.

However for all the great Pompey fans we all know and have met just lets hope all goes well over the next couple of days and it is sorted out.

I'm rooting for the Trust and this is the first and only time you will ever hear me say it but Play Up Pompey.
 
They will have a club, there will be a rangers-style 'newco', it's not like they're going to just disappear.

I'm not into all this hate thy neighbour stuff but equally I don't feel like we owe them anything either.

Win Win Situation.
I have ordered 500 each of the following Tee Shirts and I really think I am on to a winner.

If Pompey go out of business I can sell the first shirt to Saints fans while if they survive I can make a killing selling them to Pompey fans,

If Pompey survive then I can sell the second shirt to Saints fans while if they go under I can sell them to Pompey fans.

Got to be honest, I feel it very hard to feel sorry for them. They enjoyed the good times, they now have to endure the bad times. Quid pro quo.

On a human level I feel sorry for the staff who are going to lose their jobs, but I feel sorry for anybody who loses a job when it's not their fault (including those who have been laid off because their company lost money on Portsmouth). In this climate, being unemployed is soul destroying.
 
They'll form under a new name so it's not all bad (or good depending on how you view it).

I would just like us to concentrate on Southampton FC and leave those down the road to get on with their own affairs. We've discussed this and chewed on it many times before. Let's write about something else instead of bringing this subject to the forum at carefully timed intervals.
 
I agree that I don't want them to go bust, but "Play up Pompey?" That was a step too far.
 
I think the chant 'Pay up Pompey!' is more appropriate. We may feel aggrieved for the fans - but I cannot accept as a tax payer that Pompey, like other clubs, need to be pulled into line and to be made to operate as bona fide businesses.
 
Oh - that came out wrong <doh> As a tax payer I think all professional football clubs should be run along proper business lines and pay their taxes at the right times like the rest of us.

Today I am in a warm, cuddly and generous mood so you have a knock at me.

I think I shall just revert to my usual miserable, bitter, moaning self.
 
Even if Ben-Haim has gone, surely they'll still be paying the others wages and will be set to close, but on a further date? They'll also need at least 11 players for the season won't they?
