I like West Ham, partly because I used to go and watch them when Arsenal were away oop north and partly because they ****ing hate spurs as much as we do
When i was working down south, there was lads who supported all the clubs. Strange as Arsenal were always the top club then, yet i used to hang around with the W Ham lads or Chelsea (probably cos there was more of them) Used to go to the games with them. Yet everyone got along.
The rivalry stuff is there, but in reality most lads in London who are mates support different clubs, so you end up going to games with your mates without any of the petty rivalry stuff. When I was growing up there I used to go to Arsenal when we were at home and all the London away games, and then both home and away (oop north) for a couple of seasons, but most of the time if we were away, I'd go with mates to watch West Ham, Charlton and Millwall. One of the good things about living in London, there's always a couple of teams at home every week, so you can take your pick
Good points, I often used to go to games when Chelsea were away with mates. Fulham, Brentford, Queens Park Pikeys and we all got along well. That’s Londoners!
When I first started going to Arsenal, there were old boys there who told me that growing up in North London, they'd go and watch both Arsenal and Spurs, and that the rivalry thing just wasn't really there and only came later in the 60's and 70's. I used to love going to different grounds in London as a lad, hearing everybody's songs, their favourite players and just being part of a different crowd. I think it gives you a good well rounded view of football seeing lots of different teams play.
Ahhh the old "Dis is dare Cup Feyenal" response. Also dont forget to tell us we are celebrating like we have won da league.....if you go out.
Forgot about the open top bus parade after Spurs went through to the semi-final of the Champions League.
