    Indeed they did, but very few have come through in the last 10 years or so, and those that have are not anywhere near the ability levels of the names you have rolled off.

    Have to agree with this. Spurs have just shelled out in the region of £100m but have not been slammed for it, indeed it has all been praised given the start to the season they have enjoyed <ok>

    I think the reason Spurs aren't getting slammed for their spending spree is they are doing it off the back of making a profit on a young player they've had for many years. They haven't been financially backed by a billionaire to make all the signings, unless you count Real Madrid.

    I accept they are 'merely' re-investing the inject of cash for GB, but it's still a ridiculous amount of money to be throwing about.

    Ronaldo cost Utd practically nothing and became one of the greatest players on the planet. I am not defending Utd but you have to look at this in context. Arsenal who have always been held up as the model for financial prudence have spent more on one player than Ferguson ever did!
