Take him out of the squad and it's no better.

That's all there is to it. At the bare minimum his presence instills a little more belief to the other players. You all seem to think the likes of holt will do much better... That speaks bleedin' volumes to me about what im dealing with here <laugh>

Why do you keep banging on about Grant Holt??
He wouldn't have scored goals because there wasn't any service, the midfield were playing in their own penalty area, and Rooney was still playing the tables in America.
Rooney doesn't do it for England, it's so plain to see, he doesn't want to be there, and now the media is looking for the next fall guy to build up then knock down.......Jack Whiltshire you have been warned!
By the way, were you at Carrow Road when Holt scored against you, easy mate easy, even Fergie said we played you off the park. So less picking on us "little" teams, get your own house and players in order first.

I think Rooney has never really had a specialised role, he is capable of playing well in a number of positions- but he gets moved around at UTD (less so since Ronaldo left). Unfortunately;

He is not a natural 10, like Maradona or Riquelme
He is not a natural 9, like Shearer or Lineker
He is not a natural advanced winger, like Ribery or Robben

Where do you play him? If you put him at 9 he will still come deep, at 10 he will spread it wide well but get crowded out, he is wasted a bit on the wing- although he should have more space.

You didnt play us off the park, you played route 1 football all game and we still beat you playing in 1st gear.

I agree, Rooney doesn't suit playing in Hodgson's rigid, defensive 442 system, and playing as the lone striker under Capello suited him even less, he would be much better playing in the hole in a 4231 type of formation, similar to how United play with a mobile striker in front and 2 quick, attacking wide men on either side, unfortunately England have never really tried to attack teams since Hoddle was in charge.

people are completely underestimating how much damage Roy is doing short and long term.

Getting one result better than expected by being a hideous bus parker doesn't mean he should be choosing the direction of the national side going forward.

I'd sack him with extreme prejudice before he ruins the next generation. Psycho too. And I really like pyscho as an individual. But bot he and Roy will wreck us for a generation.

England were a big steaming turd before Roy got near it. No amount of polish will make it any less of a big steaming pile of crap that it is.

We were unbeaten in 2011... "Big steaming turd"????

You guys are going to hate me saying this. Capello was our best manager; He only let us down once and that was when we had a game changing goal wrongfully disallowed....

In terms of the quality of football... I actually think we played slightly more positive under Capello; mind you we were not much more positive then either.

Under Capello .. still not good enough, simple.

Those criticising Woy are being a bit ridiculous really, the Euros was only ever going to be damage limitation. Lets judge him on how he does over the next 4 years which will include qualification for Brazil 2014, the tournament itself and qualification for and the next Euros !!

The people claiming he should be sacked have obviously missed the dozens of articles damning the quality of players at England's disposal. England can't improve until their players improve. FFS, even Greece can hold the ball better than England.
