For multicultural I would substitute multiethnic. We had a multiethnic society when I was a kid in the 1970s and 1980s where the overwhelming majority, despite where they came from, integrated into British society and took on the British societal norms. Now, and I’m fully aware I don’t live in the UK anymore, there is a multicultural society where every culture appears to be vying to be the dominant one resulting in a breakdown of society cohesion.
