Dai - that never happens with B365 pal - they've always got that one covered.

It was £9.24 and the odds were 22/1 on being Champions when I posted it. The cash out has now been dropped to £8.28 and the odds put up to 28/1

    They're no mugs. <ok>

I thought that Sparks, you never see a poor bookie.

I used to work for Jack Brown but not for long I hated the job.

Seeing people putting their last few pounds on a horse. :headbang:

Jack Brown's. There's a blast from the past. They had a place in Porth. Their telephone number was the same as ours with the last two members reversed. Regularly took wrong number calls in the late 70s.

There was Jack Brown's (before Coral's took them over) when I had an office for a while in Porthcawl. You're right about never seeing a poor bookie Dai.

Jack Brown's brother lived in Porthcawl and he was always pissed up to the nines. He was usually helped staggering out of the Prince of Wales in Station Hill most afternoons and his minders poured him into a car or taxi to take him home.

No idea what happened to him but from what I knew at the time he was a tidy bloke but couldn't handle all the dosh that came his way. It was the hangers on around him that pissed me off - always seemed to be looking for a free drink all the time.

That might have been old Jack Brown's son, he had 2 Des & Eddie. One of them was in Porthcawl.

It was Jack's grand-daughter who sold to Ladbrokes.

You could be right there Dai - I thought it was Jack's brother but now you mention "Des", that sounds familiar. <ok>

I know it was Corals who eventually took over Jack's betting office in Porthcawl, but did it go to Ladbrokes first?

Brown's sold their 141 shops to Ladbrokes in 2005, in a deal worth £76m for the company owners. (Jack's grandchildren).

They might have sold the odd shop before then.

Ladbrokes shut quite a few shops.

Didn't bother to update it after the New Year's day defeat at QPR - it had dropped so much it was too depressing..........<laugh>

Anyway, after that win yesterday it's worth resuming the updates without too much embarrassment. :emoticon-0105-wink:

    City to finish top as league Champions........£30 @ 7/1 - potential return £240 - cash out today > £5.86

    City to finish top 2 and go up by autos........£10 @ 14/1 - potential return £150 - cash out today > £21.43

    City to get promotion by any route..............£30 @ 8/1 - potential return £270 - cash out today > £72.00

    Newport to finish in top 7 (playoffs).............£8 @ 12/1 - potential return £104 - cash out today ^ £29.72

Aye Dai, that's true - all you should hope for in the end is to come out with more than you went in with.

I could do that right now but I sense the revival is coming!! (or am I just greedy? <laugh>)

Ok Sayer, being as you asked nicely....<laugh> <ok>

City's chances of finishing as Champions are diminishing with Wolves in such good form and the cash out reflects that.

Having already cashed out my "to finish top 6" bet for a healthy profit, the cash outs on the other "promotion" bets have started to rise again after falling recently (I haven't bothered to post them! <laugh>). County to finish in the top 7 of league 2 seems to be struggling lately.

    Here they are.................

    City to finish top as league Champions........£30 @ 7/1 - potential return £240 - cash out today > £4.71

    City to finish top 2 and go up by autos........£10 @ 14/1 - potential return £150 - cash out today ^ £23.08

    City to get promotion by any route..............£30 @ 8/1 - potential return £270 - cash out today ^ £77.15

    Newport to finish in top 7 (playoffs).............£8 @ 12/1 - potential return £104 - cash out today > £13.00

Yes Jack had two sons Eddie and Des,he also had two brothers Idwal and the one that was not in the business Claude who lived in Ynyshir, what i remembered he was the best of them all.Good memories especially the xmas dance Jack would throw for all the staff and a free bar in porthcawl.
