Brings back so many memories watching that. I remember school the following Monday, school was 50/50 us and the black n whites but everyone was buzzing after this game. The lucky kids who went to Hillsborough were treat like heroes especially those that brought the match day programme in for us all to peruse.
Brilliant time to be a Sunl'n fan, only equalled for me when Quinn and Philips were laying waste to the best defenders the Premier League had to offer.

God I was there, I still remember how they nearly scored and the crowd behind the goal surged forward.
The coach on the way back stopped at a Radical and Liberal Club, cannot remember where..

His face was a picture.
Then the lads came out and the whole of Hillsborough was awash with red and white and the noise was deafening. The Arsenal players just stood and looked.
What a day.
I went with the Silksworth comrades CIU club and we stopped at a club in Sheffield and everyone in the place were praising the lads and backing us for the final, brilliant drunken night that was.
What a fantastic day. Remember standing there before theatch and thinking how quiet it was and then it all took off - deafening. Then after the match had finished everyone staying put and singing for Stokoe to come out - wow
Remember standing next to Alan Kennedy on the way in, and he chatted away to the Sunderland supporters for a few minutes, at the end ot the game Stokoe came onto the pitch to salute the crowd who raised the roof , unforgettable day.
I was at Hetton Baths. One of the lifeguard attendants kept updating his mate in the pool.
Us kids kept swimming like f*ck over to them, so we could hear what had to say.
I remeber him saying that Arsenal had thrown the kitchen sink at Sunderland....
Our mam was really pissed-off because we wouldn't get out until the final whistle had gone, ha ha ha !

Couldn't get a ticket. Me and a mate couldn't settle so drove up into the Durham Dales listening to it on the radio.
we were all down wembley stadium on a school trip watching england schoolboys thrash germany 4-1, the scores were put up and it was surprising to see so many scarves waving all around the stadium when ours was shown.
heading home on the coach and we sang all the way, all the lads with scarves at the back, loads following in cars giving us a 'thumbs up' and applauding with one bloke almost losing control...few fecks were given that day, lol.

I just hope that all those who were too young to be around then, eventually get to feel those feelings we had during that time. I was at that match, still at school but got a ticket out of the voucher scheme they had going then. I had a special Monday!
The Cup was so big then it is impossible to describe the effect on anyone who can't remember that time. But from the semi final day, for months afterwards, we all walked around like, and felt like, the kings of the world.

i was 13 an a half then, euphoria is the word to use back in them days. I go on you tube all the videos are there Peter jackson should restore the cup run matches and documentries etc and bring them out on bluray !
I was there in the Leppings Lane end with the Arsenal fans (the Hillsborough disaster end) and had no bother whatsoever, what a day we just never looked like loosing same as the final really, special times to be a lads fan hope were starting on something similar now.
The memories of the semi are as strong as those of the final. Amazing day.
