Hi Sooper, I don't think he was poor, just not as solid at the back as he was going forward. I thought he got caught out of position a few times, unlike Bosingwa who always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. Maybe just my opinion though. More than happy to be wrong. As I said, I would stick with him as I think he has the raw quality to be class given a run of games.

3-0! Uplifting...delightful...invigorating...beautiful! Good to have a first competitive win at any rate. Rangers' class, style, invention and dynamism were all glimpsed - so, positive and dancing forward. Hurrah for:

    (1) Ale - extraordinarily competent comeback - tackling, passing, vision, energy all there; and so sexy. Looks to be heading for 100% soon

    (2) Dyer - after all that scepticism. So lively, some real flair. Can we hope it will last?

    (3) Johnson - pace, touch, determination

    (4) Nelsen - looked so dependable

    (5) Bosingwa - ubiquitous and a goal

And SWP contributed well. And Cisse and Traore looked sharp and motivated.

Fabio? Exciting, positive, livewire. They did seem to have an awful lot of space down their right at times... Definitely the prettiest on the pitch:tongue:

Green? Well yes a couple of crosses collected nicely but not 100% assured. Crowd was less than fully supportive - come on, we need him at his best.

So beautiful sunlit uplands but, not to go over the top, while Walsall gave a respectable account they failed to exploit more than one infelicity, mix up and/or howler.

Gel boys. Let's have gallons of it, now! And fix that beautiful, sexy, unconquerable look in time for September!

Am I the only one was was not that pleased with the performance? Yes there were some good individual performances, Park, Faurlin, Zamora and Johnson and Dyer when he came on stood out for me but as a team we were far from great. Our movement and passing as still not good. A lot of tippy tappy back and forth but not a hell of a lot going forward. We played Walsall for god sake and a lot of the time their football was equal to ours and they created a few good chances. I agree with Langley, poor and we have to improve. Play like that against City and we will lose 5-0!

I think you are expecting too much. We never got out of second gear last night.

Walsall played some decent stuff but as Hughes said in his interview none of it was anywhere near our third of the pitch.

Other than Faurlin I think the best thing about the game is that Zamora’s heading into Saturday with lots of confidence

Damage you are probably right. I expected us to completely dominate with the team we had out last night. I still think our passing, ball retention, defending and attacking wasnt great for the players that were on that pitch.

Real gutted I couldn't go to this, top ground Loftus Road, got my travel sorted from a Pub in the Town Centre then unfortunately my mate let me down sometime last week due to the birth of his son being delayed, listened to it on Saddlers Player and it sounded like we played OK, held our own, but again lacked anything of note up front, which is already a major problem this season.

Ours supporters came across excellent, 436 was the turn-out which is a decent enough following on a Tuesday night to a not-so-glamorous cup tie, just a shame we couldn't pull of something, or come close! Bit of an uproar on our forum with some racist remarks in the away end, directed towards Ferdinand, don't know if any of you heard the sort.
