Great summary Nines. I can't help but think this spells the end for Hill and if we sign Mbia, the end for Derry too. We have too good a squad now for them to play a meaningful part. Our subs bench looks strong and Onuoha, Tarbs, Diakite and Mackie didn't even play a part in the game. Who's the bloke on this forum who said he'd start Hill, Derry and Mackie every day of the week?
I just watched some of the highlights of the game. I know it's only Walsall but all of a sudden, we look good and confident again. We certainly have the players to do well. Nelson and Faurlin add some steel and authority to the side and if we throw in Cesar, we won't be pushovers.
I've got lost can someone point me in the direction of the qpr board please? I need to discuss what a crap team, board and manager we have!
Small point of order, simply to pay one of our new players the respect he seems to deserve after a decent debut: N-E-L-S-E-N
Great read, thanks Raving and all. Not much to add except that although it was 'only' Walsall, they played some pretty decent passing football but their finishing was dire. Reminded me of Swansea last year - alas! Contrastingly, Dyer was not....dire! Sorry. Looked really up for it and it was easy to see why Hughes has stuck with him. Perhaps an impact sub in PL games too. Very fine assist. It was also a nice touch for the QPR fans to applaud their injured player although I was happy he was off as looked lively indeed. Sorry mate, not personal, just business! Finally a comment about the proverbial luck. I agreed with those who felt that the point at Norwich was a very good point because we did not deserve it. A change in luck. 'Normally' for QPR we would now be ruing the missed chances and wondering, like Fulham and Stoke, how on earth hat happened! A change in fortune and it is not over yet.
Nines, you have a great point about AJ. He does the running of 10 men and I think he could fast be a fan favourite if he carries on like that. Someone asked about Fabio - I personally thought he looked the weakest link yesterday, even though he was much improved. This is partly due to others playing better, but also because he is very much a forward looking LB! We' should be used to them I guess. That said, I would certainly stick with him as I think given regular football, in 5 or so games time, he will really click in to gear and be a big asset for the rest of the season.
Great to see Ali get 90 mins and nice to SWP finally get his first QPR goal and even Dyer played 30mins
Did aj really do that qpr999? Lol shame the highlights are on tomoz would like to see that! Overall very positive feedback on the game.
Was really pleased to hear all the positives from last night, odd that Richard Langley was negative on Twitter! https://twitter.com/langers1979/status/240734734920077312
I was pleased with the game too. Faurlin was amazing. Bosingwa looked good. SWP still lacking confidence. Cisse was like a prowling tiger when he came on. Maybe he's good as a sub? Dyer was really good and made an instant impact. He actually worked really well going down the wings. He has a great attitude, actually. He's dying to play and is focused. He's not lacking confidence. I thought AJ looked promising too but he has to get going still, I think. And finally, I totally agree about Nelson. He took charge of the defence and led it. He looked very confident and proactive. He never wasted a minute getting rid of the ball, even when it looked like someone else should be clearing it (Fabio).
Thanks for that report nines - a great read. So pleased to hear re Nelsen - sounds like he needs to start the next game tbh to give some order to the defence. City will be too early for Faurlin but when fit he needs to start.
Could so easily have been another Vauxhall Motors. Glad the fringe players got to have a go too, with the number of signings we have been making and may still be going after Rangers could do an Arsenal and have a league cup team! Just the tonic we needed in time for Citeh.
You are certainly living up to your tag mate, because you must be raving if you think Fabio was the weakest link. Either you were at home watching re runs of the Swansea game, or you're raving mad. And I'm not saying this based on my opinion, I'm basing it on the hundreds around me last night as well. Yes it was lower league opposition, but you still have to do the business, and he showed his class. Whether he can do it against the likes of man city remains to be seen.....
