I'm not saying I wanted Lijnders - just that it's what I thought was being lined up.
I don't want to see any of the usual pantheon of candidates either. I'd rather we found someone who, like Klopp was at the time, is on an upward trajectory.

Don't believe for one second that Gerrard is/was under serious consideration .
My immediate thought on why it has come out now is they suspected / knew the news had leaked so to preempt the leak they ensured it was by Jurgen and the club

Alonso doesn’t have any clause apparently

    From Ben Jacobs on Twitter

Xabi Alonso, who is doing an amazing job at Leverkusen, is the early bookies favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp. Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro told me there's no clause allowing him to leave for #LFC, but added "sometimes agreements that aren't on paper are agreements as well

It may be a long shot... but as long as Klopp is still at the club... I will hold out a little hope he will stay.

If it all gets emotional at the end of the season he could change his mind again, but I'm not going to invest too much in that hope. I suspect the club has already moved to replace him, they've known for a couple of months now.

in the end folks klopp said day 1 it's not how he is welcomed into the club that is important but how they say farewell.

its very safe to say that he will have the fondest possible farewell from every lfc fan and i find that quite satisfying.

I hope he really enjoys the partying on the beach.

we have all seen the crazy **** that man gets up to when partying win lose or draw.

I find the timing of this announcement a bit odd. Why now? If someone is lined up then wait until April, no point unsettling the players when there is so much to play for. It’s going to be a very emotional goodbye

Maybe the media got wind of him leaving and it is better to come out and be honest rather than have rumours around for months

You've got to say, looking at the interview, he looks incredibly tired. He has way more lines than when he started.

    He's deserved break for sure.

He's looked that way for a while. I've been thinking for a while that he didn't seem like he had the energy you'd expect for a manager whose team is top of the league and challenging on all fronts.

If anyone deserves a break it's klopp. I'd certainly want to live without some of the stick he's had off the media this season.

    it happens to them all.

Mourinho is a broken broken man.

I am happy he gets to go off and party. cos i know 100% he will and tell Germany, Bayern or whoever to go do one. He's going to do a bit of tv for fun and thats it imo

He will be 57 leaving us. He has given enough imo.

I'd say some staff member probably mouthed off about it somewhere. if they are all off then i'd say someone had wind and asked the club for comment

Well, what a crossroads we're at in the summer - whoever we get, FSG will learn that they need to double their measly net spend of @£40m a season just to be second to Man City. Can't think of anyone bar Klopp who could turn water into wine as much as he has consistently done for the last 8 1/2 years.

Devastated, but knew we had to prepare for 18 months anyway - doesn't the timing seem odd though? :emoticon-0112-wonde

A little - given that we're in the midst of a rebuild (of sorts - I've not really bought into that Liverpool2.0 thing), you'd have expected him to want to see it through a bit more. But like I said earlier, I suspect there might be a little more to it than we're told, and we can't expect to be informed of everything.

    it's 100% nothing like lfc 2.0

    alisson
    vvd
    salah

those are the world class players and still absolutely received upon.

add in trent and robbo who will be back first choice and we'll what we are saying is the midfield got old and got replaced.

the important thing is to not lose the head or only think of us here.

klopp's our leg-end and he will always remain so. a perfect ending.

we get a great long run from it and that's that.

As much as anything, he just looked sad, I thought - as though what he was having to say was taking it out of him.
Like coming to the end of a relationship, knowing you have to move on, but still being shaken by it all.
