Yes cause he famously didn't play for their biggest rivals. Xavi is leaving cause Barca can't win **** this season. Out of Europe, out of the cup, 10pts off the league leaders and a chance they fail to qualify for CL. Their season has been a disaster by their standards. Only reason they're not sacking him is cause he's Xavi
Alonso is a great choice as successor and currently favourite. De zerbi also in the race apparently. But what about Emery? I think he’s done a good job on limited resources. That’s the quality we’re going to need most in a manager. And he’s got experience of the premiership.
emry is a poor man's rafa. technically he's negative. now he's won a lot of things, no disrespect to him but the first thought is to not concede. de zerbi is a fashion statement. he's had a decent start but my god you need more than a start. he's not exactly had yet thst stellar he's the next big thing season.
Hopefully can give him a proper send off with a bus full of pots, but if it doesn’t quite pan out that way, he’s left us in great shape regardless.
So, I've been following Liverpool since before even Klopp was born (just) - players, managers and owners come and go but fans are here for life. A club belongs to its fans more than anything. However, this iteration of Liverpool is definitely Klopp's Liverpool, in that everything we are atm is a reflection of him. I always hoped he'd want to stay longer even than his current contract but it's not to be. In our past extended period of dominance we had continuity throughout the changes but that's not happening this time. I've often said I'd be worried about where we go when he leaves, and that time has come sooner than expected. I'm definitely nervous about who we end up with, I just hope we continue to play entertaining and effective football. I can't say I have anyone in mind atm.
I'm only judging them against klopp. emry's record speaks for itself really. he is around the bracket of current elite managers. de zerbi has the chance to go do something with Brighton in 2 cos still but they have provided him 70% of a team having made vast profits on players and it shows defensively.
apart from the length of time you have been watching liverpool, I agree with everything you just said. it’s like the excitement for next season has evaporated. Very hard to find positives. The heartbeat of LFC is leaving. no matter who we get, they will be a step down on Klopp.
There isn't going to be another manager with Klopp's philosophy so we should accept that the new manager will do things differently. Whoever it is will surely realise that he has a good base to work from. A manager with a brain will look to build on what we have.
Limited compared to City and Chelsea. We could do worse than Emery. We are going to have to accept a period of turbulence. The question is whether we are hardly going to notice it or it will be affect us for a significant while. A manager closest to Klopp in philosophy or a manager most proven to have led a premiership club similar to ours?
The reality is that there are very, very few world class managers out there and those who are, want the best players at the club with the biggest budget; something they will not get at LFC. Klopp is unique in that regard and we’ve been incredibly lucky to have him. We’d better get prepared for normal life because it is coming fast now….personally, having been spoilt over the last 9 years, it’s going to be a hard watch for some of us…..but watch we will….
