it is very sad that people die trying to cross the channel especially children.
It makes you wonder who ultimately is responsible for the tragedy? Is it the gangs? well they do overload the boats! is the French after all they have been paid a massive amount of money to patrol the beach's and stop them launching! or is it the person in ENGLAND that has thrown out encouragement to state free passes to all those........! cancelled the deterrent .. a couple of different interviews did mention that its withdrawal gave false hope to many?

I hate to say it but the wait was coming along nicely when the last .GOV was in power, you cant rush things ... even the BOE said similar ship is steady in 18 month's should be interests will be down [ maybe 1%?] inflation down lower than 2%.. and GDP likely rising............ now we have to wait and see how the porkies pan out and what taxes they had in mind to change before July 4th and where, YES , where was the money coming from for all plans ... they never really said and what they did say was all shot down in flames as it wouldnt be enough and it wouldnt be instant!

In other news, children have been arrested over the murder of an OAP in Leicester and a boy in Liverpool who was due to attend court over the summer riots had to be accompanied by his uncle as his Mother had flown to Ibiza for a holiday !

317 more boat people added to the ever growing bill thats approaching £500.000 a week from last 2 days sailing total landed since 4th July over 8,000 and 2 month's in power tomorrow!.......... there is now so many waiting to cross that the boats are sailing from further away, the catastrophic boat sinking [ of yesterday ] was trying to sail across more than twice the distance ..... sleep well Yvette!
Councils don't get a lot of money from the private sector. The private sector runs the majority of care homes in the UK for councils. The private sector gets huge sums of money and profit from Councils.
But the point was about smoking and the NHS. The NHS was created in 1948. There have never been less smokers than there is now. Massively taxed smokers have never been less of a drain on the NHS than they are now. Two Tiers numbers and figures don't add up.

Here in northern France, the police have a similar focus. They are preoccupied with the task of trying to patrol ever larger stretches of their increasingly militarised coastline. They now have more manpower, buggies, night-vision equipment, and special drones that can detect groups of migrants hiding in the dunes.
But the police are aware that, as they expand their operations - much of it now funded by British taxpayers - the smuggling gangs are responding, finding new ways to cross, and often putting the migrants themselves at ever greater risk as a result.
French politicians and civilians in resort towns scattered along this coastline, the reaction to yet another deadly incident is not to focus on the criminality of the smugglers, but on the motives of the migrants, on what still drives so many of them to attempt this dangerous crossing.
France’s interior minister, Gerald Darmanin, spoke of it on Tuesday at the harbour in Boulogne.
And the blunt conclusion, repeated to me so often – by local mayors, by pensioners, by couples out walking their dogs on beaches where they now fear they may come across bodies washed ashore - is that this is Britain’s fault.
His [ Darmanin] comments focused on the lure of what he views as Britain’s loosely regulated job market, that acts like a magnet, drawing young Eritreans, determined Sudanese, Afghans, Syrians and Iraqis to this coastline, convinced that they if they can just make it across this last, short stretch of water - or even half way across - they’ll end up in a country where they can find work, even without the right paperwork.

The likes of Denmark and Sweden have now stopped giving these people free handouts the second they arrive on their shores. In this world of a undreamed of time of close surveillance and technology, between the French and the British they are still unable to stop the sale of rubber dinghies to criminals, break the gangs, or stop the crossings at source. Yet if say or post anything untoward online, and you'll have the Stasi knocking on your door and hauling you off to jail for 3 years.

The French authorities need to take a long hard look at themselves in that case. But I refer to the comment above, we make it far too easy for people to come to the UK illegally and on the rare occasions we want to deport anyone who has no right to be here (basically all of them!), we allow appeal after appeal by the lefty lawyers until eventually, the illegal gets British citizenship anyway. How is that right or fair ? We're paying for this !
We don't even detain these people when they arrive like we should ffs. We are literally allowing all of them to roam our streets and countryside at their own free will and disappear into the black economy if they wish.
The British people didn't vote for any tinpot Government over the last 20 years going against the express wishes of the population at large.
We could make it so much easier on ourselves, and yet those in power simply refuse to do so.
We must be masochists, yet it's our taxes that rise and the quality of life of genuine British citizens that declines.

A widely-held belief here in France, which is that however much effort is put into tackling the smuggling gangs it will never be enough. [MOOTED by many knowledgeable individuals / countries ] This is a crisis fuelled by the demands of tens of thousands of determined migrants, [ likely another 50-60,000 en route or in the wings!] rather than by the profit-seeking motives of a loose network of criminals.
There is another difference between the way Britain and France react to such moments. You can see it in the newspaper and television headlines.
"The small boat crisis" may be big news in the UK, but in France - a country currently preoccupied by its own political turmoil and, frankly, tired of the situation on its northern coastline - even twelve deaths in the Channel barely make headlines.!
from memory when RWANDA was set up FRANCE saw a decrease in immigrants near the ports various media outlets interviewing those in the camps reported people a healthy% leaving, beside those waiting to see outcome and the hardened saying crossing at all costs!
most of those being deported are those that came without passports and ID simply to melt into the black economy... takeaways back street workhouses and the like!

Only half the story..THE OAP pensions are 2 levels ... for some born after 1951 /1953 [ new ] it is circa £400 HOWEVER THOSE born before 1951 / 1953 [ old ] [ M / F ] it is only £300

Now because they have a fixed till after 2026 ? personal allowance [ this drags in more and more low paid workers ] people on basic pension after the rises this APRIL PAST and next April will be paying tax at 20p for every £ over the basic Personal Allowance [ £12,570 ] so that £300 is only worth £240 so no matter what the fuel allowance is / might be that is stopped, pensioners on old system is having their income reduced by £10 per annum.
ASLEF of the £3000 rise for 24/25 £1200 will be stopped in tax 5% will go pension and be met with same amount from paymasters into the pension pot ... could well be higher ! up to 15%
wage bill is £ 1,496,000,000 add rest of the payments from being employer ... means now cost of 22,000 drivers is circa £ 1.8bn [ 1,713,350,000 ]
So, even though there were never actually any flights to Rwanda, the very small chance there ever would be, would be enough to deter people, but the very reel risk of drowning won’t.

My understanding is they’re reluctant to provide arms that may be used to commit war crimes. At least that’s their explanation, I can understand the reluctance if that’s the case.
When your enemies, who kidnapped, raped, and murdered many innocent people on 7/10/2023 and who then try and hide behind the civilians they were elected to serve and protect, and who deliberately put weapons and ammo dumps under Hospitals, such is their cowardliness, then I think that Israel has every right to do what it's doing and wipe them out. It was a totally unprovoked attack.
Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East in a regional culture of violence, murder, and sectarian hatred for each other in the countries that surround it, and because of this, we should fully support them imho.
