Not convinced he meant that lay-off against the mags, and winning free kicks and penalties has been his forte so far, we need to see more for our money, ie goals or/and assists into double figures would be nice, but we all live in hope for Jozy, and he does keep doing it at international level, so there is no reason why he cant replicate that level of performance for us when he returns.
Flick for Colback in the 0-3 which led to Johnson scoring First time lay off for Ki vs Fulham which led to Johnson scoring Won the penalty vs Fulham which secured the three points Set up Larsson to secure the game vs Saints in the league cup Could list loads. Point is his general play last year was solid.
This isn't worth a new thread but I've just noticed summat funny & encouraging at the same time. The commentator missed it, Quinny missed it and, I suspect, we all missed it. I'm working flat out, on the internet, planning my trip around the far north of Scotland and have the Cardiff 4-0 on in the background. I've just seen the bit where Wickham is pulled back in the box, then blocked by the keeper but still keeps going. The look on his face is ****ing fantastic, you can see him thinking, "Aaah **** that's a penalty but if I go down that Italian ****er is going to take the penalty!" That's what we need, a striker who can think on his feet
Back heel lay off for el hadji ba goal in league cup was pure class and selfless. He was pivotal in the crucial win over stoke drawing both fouls that got nzonzi sent off.
Confidence makes a striker, Every striker suffers the problem of a confidence crisis, very common with strikers adapting to a new league, even more so when NOBODY is showing form which was a very common occurrence last season. As fans we have a duty to pitch in and help our players suffering with confidence problems rather than the easy two dimensional thinking of just writing him off as rubbish.
I'm hoping Wickham's end of season proves to be a lesson learned for us all ......... 'useless' to 'priceless' in half a dozen games.
Well I'm somewhere in the middle on that one, our fault of course not Connor's, he should be twice the player by now. Cheers MoN and Bruce. I have to admit I didn't think he was ready yet so fair play to him but trust Gus to continue his development the right way. But I could only go on the way he'd been managed the performances and one of the lads on here who'd regularly saw him drinking, I didn't just think he was rubbish, I knew there were reasons. But you're bang on Smug, it shows that a striker misfiring is rarely as simple as just saying he's rubbish, there are grey areas and things you need to taking into consideration.
I would have no objection to our strike force being Jozy and Whicks in the "easier" games next season and one or the other in the tougher fixtures. I dont think either of them have proved themselves as premiership strikers yet, but both have shown enough to be given more time, Rome wasn't built in a day, and we do have a bit of rebuilding to do and both defense and midfield need to be strengthened first in my opinion.
this is going to be a massive season for jozy and we really need to see more from him in front of goal. we have seen some good stuff from him but his goal return isnt nerly good enough. good play will only get you so far and sooner or later he needs to start banging them in
