I really hope he turns it round, sometimes people can be coy in their predictions of whether a man can be successful or not, and be smug about that fact if they are proven correct in the long run. I'm personally losing faith in his ability to do a job for us in this league but this is my opinion & I genuinely hope I'm proven wrong. After all, I'm red & white & want any player who pulls on the shirt to be successful no matter what the statistics say. **** though, he needs to start doing it now because he's losing the all important mental battle that all to often gets overlooked in place of physical attributes.

I'd agree with nearly all of that, but I do see message boards as a survey, the opinions will be consistent across other message boards, the press will read these and fan opinion will effect how they report on him, Jozy will read the papers, he will pick up on the vibe. Just my opinion of course. Think we need to remember that he's a 6 million striker, we've got a number one striker worth double also struggling to deal with the lack of service.

I wish we could just get of their backs and hope one of them starts scoring. My money would be on Fletch to do that like.

Nowt wrong with saying Jozy needs to get scoring, it's just the venom of the comments. The write offs, the sell him first chance, the pet name. It's immature and detrimental and it really saddens me the fans of Sunderland (and Newcastle) are so quick to kick their own while they're down weather it be club, manager or player.

Our new philosophy requires players with a bit of skill, players who can control the ball, pass the ball, maybe bring team mates into the game. I never saw any signs of this from Josy today, the bloke just doesn't have it.

We brought BA on with around 15 minutes left and even if he hadn't scored, he done more in 15 minutes than Altidore done in 94. He is NOT the answer mate and never will be, time he was shipped out.

Again, my apologies if you think my comments are venomous, immature or whatever.

If you can find any posts where I've attacked any safc player, anyone else (NUFC excluded :emoticon-0102-bigsm), or any poster I'd be gobsmacked!

I just don't think I'm being venomous in stating my opinion that he isn't a good enough striker for SAFC or the PL.

I'm not just talking about his goal scoring prowess mate, the useless twat can't even control the ball, he doesn't have the basic skills required at this level.

He was bossed by a league 2 defender today, what excuse do you have for that?

I see what you say mate, I've even said myself we've accidentally signed Lenny Henry, just hope Poyet can teach him something in training that will make him adept to the style of play that he wants us to play. I believe Poyet is an intelligent man though & will do what he thinks needs to be done this transfer window & if he can't bring in the players he wants then shift the team around in such a way that will best accommodate what we need to stay up.

Not you fella. I'm talking generally, sorry if you thought I meant you fella, not at all. There's that much anger directed at him I wouldn't know who said what anyway without checking back, not that it matters, It's nothing personal from me but collectively I do get vexed if you know what I mean?

No offence taken mate. To be honest I've just got a bit pissed off pussy-footying around the fact that some players just aren't good enough.

We can't keep giving them 5 games, and another 5 games, and on and on, excusing their failings and asking for just a little more time so they can prove their buying fee.

I guess it's just 50odd years of hearing the same old ****, with the odd 1 or 2 good/great seasons in between (thanks Reidy, by the way).

I'm gutted for ES, I really am! I really thought this season would be different. Instead it's the same old ****.

Bit pissed now, but you'll always find the truth on the end of a drunks tongue.

That's fair play fella. Valid opinion. So why so angry about him? Why the abuse? Do you think helps? Not you individually but you as a part of a group, how the hell does it help in any way shape or form. Your post there has nothing wrong with it. but you've followed it with this

Like I've said I'm on the fence regarding his ability but when a minority which includes you start with that **** you're kicking us while we're down. **** Jozy, my gripe could be applied to any player getting that treatment provided he's been professional and respectful to our club. That attitude sneaks into the stadium as well like when Ji played against MK Dons, ****ing disgusting attitude, not that i'm suggesting you do that at the SOL but they share you attitude and opinion that they've formed on the message boards, in the work place and down the pub.

At times our support fills me with shame. It leaves me embarrassed.

Most of the squad can't cut it to be honest. Not this philosophy anyway. I'd happily go down playing it though. Most of my life we've played ****e football. Even under Reidy, effective as it was it was too direct for my taste even though I loved every second of it and am eternally grateful. Hope we can get the right players in to steer us safe. Love Poyet me.

I don't think that any SAFC fan wants him to fail, but he is not good enough to play in the Premier league. We have made a bad signing...let's get over it!He couldn't even score against Carlisle...a game that I hoped he would get confidence from.Sell him, now!

To be honest mate, this and other message boards are read by a tiny percentage of fans and I doubt very much that they contribute in any way to the fans mood at the SOL.

Also, for the record, I've never ever boo'd or voiced my dis concerns at any player at any match. (Apart from Stephen Taylor)

I was simply pointing out that if we continue to rely on Altidore to get us the goals required to get us out of the relegation positions, then we're doomed. He can be as professional as he likes, he just isn't good enough at this level and we need to act sooner rather than later.

As always, I will be the first to hold up my hands and eat humble pie if he can prove me wrong and I genuinely hope that he does, I just can't see that happening anytime soon.
I have no problem with his commitment and attitude, I just think he doesn't have what it takes to cut it in the EPL.

At times he does well in this system but all too often he looks terrible and none more so than when in front of goal. He just looks awful in the role he was bought for - a striker.

Regardless of whether some think he fits into a squad or pattern of play or not, the simple fact remains. If we are going to rely on him to shoot us to safety this season then we are as good as down now.

Looks like im in a decreasing minority here but i still rate him. Yes he missed a chance but it wasn't as bad as some of Fletchers recently.

Having skim read something I haven't seen people mention...... What happens when people run up and beyond him/actually support him. He played a lovely back heel to Watmore in the box which very nearly was a goal. Then he cooly and unselfishly laid on a lovely pass for Ba's goal (like he did for Lesson at the same end in capital one cup). Goals and finishing will come with a bit of confidence and we need to play our part by supporting him, not sending him abusive messages on twitter like some of our inbred fans with extra typing fingers are doing.

He's struggling in the league because the wide men have been crap and bar Ki the forward ball has been shambolic. Play balls into him and get players running in.behind and it'll work then someone might start laying chances on for him.

I cant even think of a time our wingers have got near the byline and whipped a cross in for him.

And the Jozy debate rages on......

Anyone expecting him to be the goal scoring saviour got it wrong. Until we improve in the final third collectively, we ain't gonna score many. Luis Suarez would struggle in our team, Ffs.

I'd be amazed if we buy a top-drawer striker who can make the difference and bang 10 goals in until we improve as a team in the final third. For that we need to improve our midfield first.

I rate Jozy have done from the start, agree he needs better service to start scoring (that'll get better once Gus sorts out the superfluous deadwood ) he brings a lot of positives to the team he holds the ball up well and is unselfish in distribution he works hard for the team does loads off the ball too - we need to get off his back imho
