Even in the slog, he got the better of it in my opinion. I've only given Ruiz the 4th so far and that was the closest round of the fight. Ruiz is going to gamble at some point though and go all in.
Ruiz's best round by far that one. Joshua reacted well for the most part to the big hits, with the exception of the last spell.
With AJ being the challenger he needs to clearly take another couple rounds to be certain that he'll get the win here.
I've got it wide mind. 7-2 to AJ. Ruiz needs to stop him. Clever tactic from Ruiz mind - putting on so much weight that AJ can't get his arms around him to hold.
This is like watching a Floyd Mayweather performance from Joshua. Technically superb. He's pretty much schooled Ruiz. He still hasn't impressed enough to suggest he can mix it with Fury, Wilder, etc.
He'd comfortably outbox Wilder but would be done if Wilder landed cleanly. He'd be out boxed by Fury but could hurt him. On balance I'd have him losing to both, but he's certainly earned the right to be in that company in my opinion.
I can imagine Sugar Ray Leonard watching that and nodding his head thinking 'thats how you negate a puncher'
