Jose the better player and one it would have been nice to retain. Absolute first class for me. Raylor has been superb and long may it continue. Much maligned in the past, probably deservedly so, but has really had a Warren Barton type turnaround. Concentration level has always been his main problem but he seems very focused. I want a quality left back still but they'll have to wait their turn if he maintains form . Same for Simpson who was excellent v Stoke, and Everton bar the goal. No doubt Raylor has softened the blow of losing the superb Enrique though.

You have mis-understood the reason we hated life under Roy, it wasn't the results so much as the performances, aside from swansea we have dominated stoke, norwich and man utd we were just unfortunate. Then there was the excuses "the players", "the fans", "the anything except my crappy tactics" I'd have 100 20m Hendersons before I'd have poulson back.

Results (northampton aside) weren't awful under hodgson, they were bad but he made things worse with everything else.

Remember one of our goals of the season - Carroll's against Liverpool where Jose set him up. Funny how they both play for Liverpool now

You'd really rather your club spent 2 billion on 100 average CM's than spend much less on 1 ****e one? Wow.

If Jose had still been here, would we have won the Derby? probably not... would we have beaten Everton maybe not! Taylor has won us 4 points this season with 2 pieces of magic.

He also got us past Scunny with that freekick :)

Also, he doesn't moan about the board and just gets on with it!

Proper pro, proper person, hope he gets a new contract aswell tbh

    Yeah about that...

Demands on contract renewals seems to have been the undoing of some of our big name departures over the past year or so...

Doubt Ryan Taylor would demand much. Where would he go if he left us?

Raylor's hardly a big name, and he wont be on big money either. Didnt bother Jonas, that was completed before we even knew it had started.

If the player wants to stay, then the player will stay. The player always gets what they want

Exactly. Jose wanted to stay, the manager and board wanted him to stay. Everyone was happy.

Carroll didn't want to stay, the board couldn't say no to 35million.
Nolan and Barton thought the board wanted/needed them to stay... they were wrong.
Jose didn't want to stay, the board wanted him to stay.

If the board wants a player to stay and the player wants to stay, an agreement will be made.

It depends if you think he's average or not, doesn't it?

Yes, like Fabio Capello, who called him up to the England squad for the game Vs France. The man who's won 11 league titles in his career (13 with his two at Juventus). Obviously Capello can't differentiate between average players and good players.

The man who just called up Glen Johnson to the England squad instead of Micah Richards?

Sterling argument you have there, lad.

His career successes cannot be argued against, but his selection tactics stink.

What's your point? Glen Johnson is a better player than Micah Richards. People talk about him being poor defensively etc but I haven't seen Glen Johnson outplayed by any winger since he came to Liverpool. And if you're referring to the fact that Glen Johnson is only back to fitness and isn't on top form yet unlike Richards, I don't get your anger about that. Monreal has only been Malaga's first choice left back for 3 weeks, and he's been called up before Enrique, Torres has been out of form and out of sorts for ages, yet he's been called up ahead of Soldado. If managers called new players up everytime someone got injured or were playing better than X player then there would be over a 100 players called up, and there would be no continuity in the squad. The choice for the right back slot was between Walker and Richards, and I doubt many would argue that Walker has looked better than Richards so far this season.
