Agree. And fair play to you Sisu for listening and in part accepting my argument. <ok> United knew this and Ferguson told him about his secret retirement plans to tap him up but Jose told Alex Ferguson there was no way he would ever take over from him at Manchester United.

I urge you to read Rob Beasley to get a fuller understanding

I told Roman I didn't want the Chelsea job, that I wanted to stay in my desk chair. He then appointed Jose.

So let me see if I have this right.

Fergie tells jose he is retiring just because he's a friend and in no way was it a job offer. Correct?

So, why in the hell would Jose then say he only wanted the Chelsea job? Are people suggesting that Jose misunderstood his friend and thought he was offering hime the job?

Be serious, Jose isn't stupid. There is zero point him mentioning Chelsea unless the ManU job was offered and was refusing it and explaining why.

There's a lot of guesswork and speculation being spouted so lets introduce some facts to the conversation.

    JANUARY 2013

    - Goncalo Lopes reports that Abramovich wants Mourinho as manager, not Guardiola

    - Lopes reports a verbal agreement has been struck between Mourinho and Abramovich for his return to Chelsea.

    - Guardiola confirmed as Bayern manager (Marca suggests he was courted whilst Barca manager)

    March 2013

    - Ferguson reveals to Manchester United he plans to retire at the end of the season.

    May 2013

    - Manchester United approach David Moyes

    ===========

I have it on good authority that Joel Glazier tried to meet with Mourinho's representatives and both Spanish/Portuguese media report that Mourinho rejected United, French media also report that Ancelotti rejected them as well.

All the evidence suggests that Guardiola, Mourinho and Ancelotti rejected them and they turned to Moyes as a last resort. As I've said, if anyone thinks Moyes was their first choice they are delusional, I've also been told on good authority by a United fan I know that they were after Mourinho. If anyone wants to know how they can PM me. The only reason United were desperate to get a manager in so quickly was to avoid turmoil over the summer and fans descending into panic upon Fergie's retirement. They wanted to make it look planned but in reality it was far more slap dash than they are letting on.

Even if you disbelieve any of the above, Abramovich has a history of planning ahead re: managers. Sven and Jose were both being chased whilst Ranieri was manager. Benitez was being chased whilst AVB/RDM was manager. Hiddink was already being lined up whilst Scolari was there too. This is excusing the fact Mourinho was spotted looking at property in London last year as his daughter is moving to study here in September.

Don't you think there is too much coincidence here for it to be purely "circumstance"?

RDM was not sacked spontaneously, he was never wanted as Chelsea manager long term but the man Abramovich wanted clearly wasn't available. The cup double backed Roman into a corner. The virtual elimination from the CL after the results against Juventus gave him his excuse to pull the trigger.

Now that you think about it, the reason Jose was being so sympathetic after rm knocked out united was because he knew this was fergusons last champions league campaign... :)

Laugh. Jose always liked Saffa because he always beat him and never saw him as a threat. He hated Rafa mainly because he offered a stiffer challenge to chelsea

This are pure rumours, but Chelsea fans will follow Jose over a cliff if he told them to. It is the same as Fergie said Moyes was always first choice and I believe that. Jose is wild he builds teams with millions of pounds of money but doesnt build a legacy. Rafa is a proper coach who coaches players Mourinho to me is a coach who will antagonise players, even his own countryman Ronaldo dislikes him. He spent over 127 million with Real Madrid and still couldnt win the Champions League and Diego Simeone won more trophies then Jose in the same time as boss of Atletico Madrid without having the enormous advantage Jose did.
