Yup and the fact that we'll be flying back from america 3 days before. They will deffo want to have 1 up on Mourinho even if its just a friendly
Very selective Journalism that completely ignores the fact we sold a lot of players to fund a lot of those purchases. Mata, De Bruyne and Luiz were sold for over 100 million for starters. Jose doesn't get these things wrong so was clearly referring to net spend.
You can't really have it both ways can you, your friend BobbyD above clearly used selective memory, buy claiming arsen has spent 650 million to win 2 FA cups in 10 years, when the reality is over that 10 years we had a net spend of zero, or even mad a decent profit.
I'm not having it both ways as me and Bobby are different people with different opinions. I'm just highlighting the fact that Jose was talking about net spend, and in the last 3-4 years, not the last 10. For Arsenal to have a net spent of nil in 10 years (if true, I've no idea) and to constantly be in the top 4 is a brilliant achievement. Just imagine what you could have done if Wenger had stopped stockpiling cash and put a bit more back into the team a few years ago.
I've read that small piece, and I cannot see what the fuss is all about! The first part reads:- "Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho reckons Arsenal have spent enough to be Premier League title challengers next season – but his London rivals have spent far less than him in the past three years." Okay. And...? Chelsea won the league! It's not being claimed that The Smug One said, "Arsenal have spent more than us, so should win the league in 2015/16." All he appears to be pointing out is the fact that, with Arsenal having spent a lot of money on the kinds of quality players they now have, they ought to be making a challenge for the title. Most Gooners would agree with that ffs! What The Smug One is, very cleverly, doing is to point out that Wenger, now, has absolutely no excuse, if he is to be considered a great manager. He's spent the money, he has the squad, so he ought to be challenging. Again, I cannot see how any reasonable observer of the game could possibly disagree with that.
This should be interesting. Arsenal fans either accepting that Mourinho's right or arguing that they shouldn't be challenging for the title.
Sorry, i was being sarcastic with regards to your silly article. As an arsenal fan you guys are the very first to defend wenger and his net spend of whatever it is and moving to a new stadium. Now you are playing the other card of Mourinhos gross spend, hence i was using it to belittle Wenger when in matter of fact both have done a great job on net spend in recent years.
We are investing in players to make us title contenders as do United City and Chelsea•, whereas Spurs and Liverpool seem to spend loads but don't progress. •some clubs spend more than others
We sit 5th among the Prems big spenders, and our finishing position in the league last season was... Oh, wait! It was 5th! What a ****ing surprise, eh!
A bit late but seriously....no one gets the sarcasm in what Jose is saying..... People been saying for years that Chelsea were buying the title etc etc. Now that United are spending loads of cash in an attempt to get back on top, he is being sarcastic. No one got that?
Indeed. We got the "new stadium so no cash" excuse for years. This will be the 3rd season for Wenger without the financial constraints, so a title challenge will be expected.
He can take his pick, gross or net. Spurs have still outspent Arsenal on Transfers since the Premier league began and never won the premier league title
Obviously, you've deducted wages from your equation, PISKIE. Otherwise, your statement is nothing short of embarrassing.
In reality for you I'm afraid The tea lady wasn't a transfer. Check the transfer list and tell me that Spurs have spent less, either gross or net since the Premier league began
