As soon as this trip to Argentina is arranged (and it'll have to be for a month) we'll pay for it . . . . won't we, Marcus
Would love that! Not sure I could afford it,but,I'd love to meet up with some of the lads on here from whom I read great posts on a regular basis.... I'm not fond of long haul flights, and have no Spanish,but........ you're only old once! Need to persuade Juan to organise a pre-season in Uruguay....could combine a trip?
If they appoint him it proves how little they know about football imho. He's not even yesterday's man now, he's the day before's. And he can only manage by cheque book which will be a disaster given their precarious financial position.
When I met people off here it was brilliant. Would definitely be up for another not606 meet up. Even if it's not in South America!
Aye . . . . it would probably be better if something could be arranged that was a little more local/accessible, like in this country
But how might he manage young, talented players where he doesn't have a cheque book. He would have to work with what he's got...truly a test of his coaching skills. He surely doesn't need the money!
I mean he did some pretty spectacular work at Porto, and for all they are massive in Portugal financially they can’t compete with the big leagues. Won the CL there. Then went Chelsea and became a chequebook gaffer. Can’t argue he formed great teams though, look how Chelsea can’t get a team balanced now despite spending, having some incredible talent and a gaffer who’s build top sides before. He had it, has he now? Winning a trophy with Roma is an achievement nowadays.
Built a top side at Chelsea first time. That team with Cech, Carvalho, Terry, Makelele, Lampard and Drogba right down the spine playing almost every week was superb.
Imagine what he’d cost today. Turned up every time. Bully, leader, big game player. He was something else.
Did alright at Inter too. They were already on a role before he arrived and Juve weren't really a force at that time, but he won two scudettos and the Champions League.
Chelsea friend once told me he was unpopular at first because he was just constantly diving. He cottoned on to their displeasure , stopped diving and became the scorer he was .
