I still prefer Enrique as LW. He's brilliant there and he's the only one who is on the same wavelength as Suarez. The long balls, the quick passing with Suarez is exceptional at times. He also seems to be the only player capable of creating clear cut chances consistently. We had loads of shots today but lacked real clear cut chances (until towards the end of the game when Soton were over-committing).
What I've enjoyed about him left wing has been seeing him arriving at the back post for early crosses as well as the link up play with Suarez (bit like Maxi seemed to connect with Suarez). Personally I'd have him up there with Glenjo behind and Wisdom right back but no doubt its good to give Wisdom some time to settle and not push him too quickly. A definite positive from recent weeks. Still a way off the best in the league IMO but playing well.
Frustrating to say the least!! The moment with Sterling and Hendo pretty much sums our ability to counter quickly and attacking in general. Getting into good positions but don't know what to do with it. Sterling is young so it will come with experience (I hope). We really do need some more experienced people up front - the above problem really makes me appreciate Maxi and Kuyt a lot more. They may not have been quick but they could pick the right ball or make the right run.
Exactly. Quite surprising that a LB knows when and how to make the right runs into the box. This is the difference between playing someone like Enrique than Downing or Suso on the wings or as the inside forwards, who seem reluctant to drive into the box. It's no coincidence that we have seen more clear cut chances and more penetration since Jose moved to LW. Although we attacked well and got into the box today, we didn't create too many clear chances which is still a concern for me.
I think Sterling does know what to do with it but needs to learn when to do things and when to keep it simple etc
