As a Celtic fan I knew Boyd would get found out , scoring soft penalty awards and offside goals that was always going to happen . killen has played champions league football and at a world cup , how many of your players can say that ?? I didn't rate either!!!
Fonte was awesome at times last night. At others times, he was having a complete mare. But yes, Hooiveld was fantastic and I have very high hopes of a strong partnership between the two of them. Just need to ensure that Hooiveld remains in Jan, assuming he keeps up these performances.
I am glad to see this thread, only just got back from last night and he was by far the best player on the pitch. Didn't put a foot wrong, won most in the air, won all tackles, passed well, pinged an absolute beauty of a volley to whoever was up front at the time and then to cap it all off scored a bullet header. Every time I see him he gets better and better and same can be said about Fox. Happily have him on board!!
I think that as long as Lenny is the trainer of Celtic there is no chance Jos is ever coming back to Celtic. Also because Lenny does not need him or want him. At least that is what he did last year! Probably they don't fit together.
What I like about the Hoover is his enthusiasm towards the crowd, always the first to come across and applaud, I like the guy a lot.
I think it time to roll this one out agian... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJcqz0tczSA Reminds me of a combative Magnus Magnusson
Partnership with him and Jose has been very impressive. Like last night ...both CB's were all over John Carew like a fat chasing a cup cake! NIGEL - BUY BUY BUY!!!!
The commitment he shows to the club is not usually seen in a loan player - It seems that he is genuinely really happy at Saints. If he continues along the same path, i'm hopeful Adkins and The Don will bring him in on a perm come January.
We also need Dan Seaborne to get well again, and Aaron Martin to come along, and both to get future games, to bring their experience levels up. However, unless we're playing Cup games, I don't see them making an impression again this season, and that might be pivotal to their future Saints careers. At the present moment, signing Hooiveld in January would seem to be a very wise move. But he might want to stay with Celtic.
Did some research too!! Look at this from about 7.00 minutes and we know how to make him feel even better !
He will want to stay at SMS, he's getting the regular games + starting to be a bit of a favourite in a few supporters eyes. With what happened to him at celtic in the back of his mind i cant see him wanting to go back seeing the long term ambition of saints compared to the second best team in scotland...
Forget a link, did we..? OK, you sorted it. EDIT: I watched the link from 7 minutes on. He has a good rapport with the crowd. Did you hear the supporters using the Oh When the Saints go marching in.. tune, with the lyrics, Oh When We Win the Champions League ..? That seemed slightly odd.
Likewise....He looked a little nervy in his first game, but boy o boy, he's just gone from strength to strength with every game he plays. He's so strong & dominent at the back & links up really well with Jose... Also love the way he goes round to all the fans after the game, and last night he was calling his team mates over aswell, you can just see how much he's loving it... So no brainer come January, MUST be the first signature we get, & what ever we pay, will be worth evry penny!!! By the way... WE ARE SOUTHAMPTON, WE'RE TOP OF THE LEEEEEEEEEEAGUE!!!!!!!!!
Strewth now there is a stranger in the camp.......I just hope he brought my coke along with him...........
Hiya BBBBBBBBBBeddy me old mate, was told that was toooo strong for you, so I brought the fizzy water along instead!! but I couldn't see you, there were tooooo many people there last nightt..... .....Haven't had much time to get on the keys the last few months...but have been dipping in & out when I can( cue Fran..)
He did the same at Derby at the weekend, was the first to come over to the fans and got everyone else to come over aswell.
I'd also like to sing Hooivelds praises. He was abosolutely brilliant yesterday, sign him up. Though Fox and Chappers also had very good game.
