The best thing about this news is that when we are 2-0 up in the Champions League final in May 2018, we can bring him on for the last 15 minutes so he can fulfill his last ambition of league, FA Cup and Champions League winners medals. I believe his is definitely now at Legend status.
What a great interview. It was something of a coup to get him to sign for us when we were in League One, and in those days it would have been unbelievable that he is currently planning to finish his career with us. Thank you Jose, you are a great captain and leader, and with any luck the team can reward your loyalty with one or two Cup Winners medals before you're done.
I liked his personal ambition to want to prolong his career. Sadly with some injuries you can't prevent them, but if he looks after himself, with his style of play and in the position he plays, then why not late 30s? As he was hesitant to say, it may not be at the top of the game (hopefully where Saints will be), but he could certainly continue at a respectable level.
Every time I see something related to this guy, he just goes further up in my estimation. Top bloke, top captain, proper modern day legend. Liked what he said about Davis too...
Davis is mentioned a lot by players, Koeman and Reed....seems to be very important behind the scenes....another top bloke.
I've got nothing to add except I hope that both Jose and SKD get testimonials. Here's to many more years as our Captain Fantastic and lifting a trophy at Wembley....
Great character and fine attributes - to think we signed him for 1.2M from Palace - heavens what a stunning deal for us and, as importantly, gave him the spring-board to play for his country. All winners!!
