Has a league 1 striker ever succeeded in the Prem? Beckford must have been the best, and he did score a few at Everton but now he's with the boring one at Leicester...
Rhodes wont be leaving Huddersfield until the summer and the money he will go for would allow City to buy outright Messrs. Maynard - Sharp and a.n.o. Rhodes, for that kind of money is not worth the risk and for me That will rule him out for Hull City. Only the very very desperate may take a chance on him. imo.
i rate billy sharp as a better footballer and goal scorer than Morison. but as you say ^^^ this, Morison and Kevin Doyle for that matter have been fairly regular goal scorers in the PL. Grant Holt @ Norwich is getting a few more now and also Danny Graham @ Swansea is now finding his feet. imo, Sharp is good enough for the PL IF he gets the service.
The thing is, were they L1 strikers before they played in the PL, or were they Championship strikers for at least a season meaning the leap in quality was split over time rather than coming all at once?
Morison went from L1 I believe - he played for Millwall helping them to promotion to the Championship before joining Premiership Norwich (according to the gospel of Wiki)
Morison played for Millwall last season, he scored in both the games against us actually (and stooded Guzan in the game at the KC)
I'm struggling to think of any striker that has leapt from L1 to the PL and done well, Beckford was ok but wouldn't have played if Everton didn't have injuries. Didn't Jon Stead go from Huddersfield (in Div3) to Blackburn and do ok for a bit?
Yeah, he had a brief spell in his first half season and was **** afterwards but managed to hang around for a year or so before dropping back to the Championship. Thinking about it, if you wanted to consider him a PL success you'd also have to say we were because that's pretty much our PL story.
And we pretty much came straight from division 3 too, who knew Hull City and Jon Stead had so much in common!?! Maybe we should sign him as our new striker? ...or not
