Gooch really makes me scratch my head. As you say, there is a cracking player in there, but there is a lemon too.

I don't know if he is a lemon who sometimes plays out of his skin or a polished player who gets a build up of crud and has an off game.

His goal against Tranmere was top drawer. I've seen many top flight players bottle chances like that but Gooch showed world class composure.

For sure, LeJo needs to have a sit down with him and thrash out what the problem is. Soon. Otherwise Gooch might find himself moved on over the summer.

We’ve seen him not far short right a t the top, and now we see him labouring, as you say through no lack of effort.

Enigmatic is the word. We need see a bit more but I wouldn’t write him off by a long shot.

Sidenote, isn’t the whole point of a forum to be judgmental on shared views? kind of falls down if you aren’t.
