Me too, id be suprised if he wanted to put himself through another League 1 promotion battle though.
Hes probably looking at how well Toney done last season and seeing Arsenal and West ham after him.
They paid peanuts for him less than a year ago. If only we had decent scouts like Peterborough.

don't care how much money KLD has - if we start spending £8m on one player, in league one, it would be ridiculously stupid.

Absolutely this!!peterborough want stupid money for players. If it was a £2m fee with extras taking it to 8m over 3 or 4 years then so be it
Why would it? If that is our capability why restrict ourselves? I am not remotely interested on transfer prices and if we spend £30m to build a squad that can compete at the level above ours it would seem to back up the long term view. We need to build a nucleus that can roll through L1 and compete in championship. We should be giving players 3 year deals because they are good enough to move through the league with is, that might mean paying championship tfr fees.

Wolves took a gamble a few years ago in the Championship by spending big on Ruben Neves and Costa to help get them into the Premiership. Theyve never looked back since.
A few big money signings are definitely needed for us. Players that can come in and do a job straight away for us and keep their place the following season in the Championship.

But the Neves fee is an average cost fir an average championship player nowadays! I wouldn’t want to spend 8m on anyone in this league.

Yes it is now mate but it wasn't 4 years ago when they signed him and Costa for a combined fee of nearly 30m. That kind of set the tone for transfers in that league now.
I agree by the way i wouldn't pay 8m for him either, theres not many players that are worth 8m that would come to league 1 to be fair. A few players worth what we paid for Grigg would do nicely, just along as we have someone capable of negotiating the transfers unlike Donald.

They must know that won't work. Supporters are disapointed and angry at present. That will be worsened if we have a poor start to next season. To be honest the players we've been linked with in the main have not been good so hope media ate wide of the mark. If as we expect we don't turn it around tomorrow and don't have a positive summer it'll be another new boss midseason and same excuses. I'm playing for a miracle tomorrow as a rebuild would be much easier in championship imo

Agree we should be lowering the highest average aged squad in the division. Those linked apart from lad at morecambe won't to this. At present have to hope they know what they're doing. They've nit had a chance to show yet so wait and see.
We cannot afford 8 mill on 1 player with the cap surely.
