Whats done is done but I can fully understand why the club and manager are so annoyed about this. Spitting (on to the ground) is so damn frequent. Evans did spit. But what no one could possibly know for sure is whether before he confronted Cisse he spat AT him. There is so much uncertainty but The Fa's punishment indicated that they were certain of Evans action and motive. Thats a load of BS. I personally don't think (hope?) that he'll be that missed but if one of the other defenders gets injured we may be in trouble.
I'm trying to tell you that you can't compare the recommended sentencing of the two to prove your point. Nothing more or less than that. You can call that tribalism if you like....You're still wrong to compare like that though From a legal perspective there are a myriad of variables that would be taken into consideration, not least harm and culpability. Applying a broad brush to both laws totally neglects the process that you'd go through to define the severity of misdemeanor. Typically (not always but most likely based on precedent) , though, the law would view the severity in the following order: Verbal racial abuse < Spitting (assault) < Assualt < Racially motivated assault. The law or individuals are free to take action regardless of an FA judgement but in most cases, it's harder to get something to stick than a lump of Jonny Evan's phlegm!
Racially motivated assault does get you a bigger sentence that spitting yes. Thing is, physical assaults on football fields aren't racially motivated, they are two dumb rich kids throwing handbags. If there was a racially motivated assault on the pitch, I am guessing the police would get involved, as I don't believe the FA have a ruling on such a crime. (For a footballer to do that anyway, would be highly unlikely as it would be career suicide).
Spitting is endemic in football. Probably because there is less opportunity to take on water to swallow the increased mucas that is generated when playing sport at a high level. The damning factor isn't that he spat, it's that his head didn't move from the direction of Cisse one Iota.....why not turn his head to the side rather than spit directly at Cisse. It's not hard to do is it? Everyone else seems to be able to do that. And Therein lies any evidence that the FA need to charge him.
If you are running and trying to avoid contact with someone on the ground, how easy is it to at the same time turn your head the other side ? The reality is simply that there was/is doubt on intention.
Erm, why would you spit then?? Surely you'd wait until you weren't trying to do this!! Trying to make this out as accidental is laughable. He even have time to cough it up and collect it on his tongue ffs. Accidental spitting usually happens when someone unexpectedly runs into the area that you are spitting....Cisse was hardly moving fast was he? There's no way to deny it. It is highly likely that he meant it. Whether it would stand up in court is a totally different matter of course.
He wasnt "running" Christian he was leaning over Cisse while he was on the ground directly in front of him.
I think the so called It is not like he held the guy in his arms and brought his face to within 6 inches and then spat on the neck is it ?
Does that make it any worse? Spitting on someone deliberately is disgusting. Cisse has apologised and is suitably ashamed. Evans has denied it, despite overwhelming evidence. There's the difference that you need to focus on
This is nonsense and you know it. It is NOT overwhelming. Cisse's was but not Evans. Having said that I will commend Cisse for doing exactly what he did. But if Evans is maintaining that he had NO intention of spitting at Cisse then I will accept that just as he will have to accept the punishment. there is a damn FA conspiracy against United and LVG and you all know it...
To compare Evans and The Rat is like comparing chalk with cheese. One is a decent player with no previous history the other is a lying low life who is a racist, cannibal, who resides in the gutter and whose words you would not trust for one second.
I think he meant decent as in, a decent person. You cant judge it on how good the player is Otherwise Suarez would be able to do what he wanted on the pitch
