Didn't forget Rufus. The home grown players I mentioned either went on to command very large transfer fees, play at the highest club level, or play for England. Rufus just slightly below IMO, although still a good player.
@ All Hell Not name dropping, but I was talking to Curbs about Chris Solly in April. He said that a lot of PL clubs have taken a look, but managers are put off because of his height. I pressed him on what he thought of CS and he said he wasn't convinced he would go to the top.
At the risk of sounding like I am putting a downer on one of our youth products (which I am not!) I can see why premiership managers would be put off, football at the top level has in recent years become far more geared towards players that are tall, muscular, physically strong and possess lightning pace (Barcelona being the only real glaring exception!) and on face value I could see why prem managers would be put off by CS height. As I said I am not doing Solly a dis-service, if these managers were to scratch beneath the surface they would find one of the best full backs outside of the prem. However, the premier leagues loss is Charlton's gain and you wont hear me complaining!
