I think I read somewhere that he is being played as a second striker for Blackpool so maybe they've unearthed a new position for him. He clearly has an eye for goal. Gerrard's eventual successor maybe? Not getting carried away as it is the Championship so we need to see if he can cope in the Prem but he's looking like he's doing well.

Is he back in Jan or is it until the end of the season? Don't know whether we can send him on loan to a lower Prem team in Jan if he does come back.

The Gerrard comparison/successor thing is the worst any supporter can do. Players need their own strengths and own individual personality, let Shelvey mould into what he wants and in a few years we'll see what he can do.

His loan expires in Jan but I'm sure we'll look to extend it.

I'm not comparing him to Gerrard, all I'm saying is that in the next few years he'll be more of a bit part player and if Shelvey can work with him then from a positional sense he could be a good successor rather than trying to buy someone from abroad. He looks like he can play in behind the striker & score goals, something Gerrard did brillianltly with Torres.
