Decent player, strikes me as some one who needs an arm around him. Still very young has a fair bit of experience. In a team that will play him regularly he could thrive, he shone in the Europa last season and bagged a few goals to top if off. He's very good at finding spice, similar to Lampard, his shot is half decent but he has days where he couldn't hit a barn door. Like I said, give him regular games and I'm certain you'll see the best of him, he was probably our top prospect before last season, but he's at an age where the only way you can progress is regular first-team football so it's probably best for both parties if he moves on. His tackling is a bit reckless, but he does get "up" for the bigger games (expect a red card when you play Cardiff ) which is a positive, he never hides away when things aren't going well, Whenever he gets the ball he's immediate instinct is to create something, with a bit of fine tuning he could be a handy player. Any LFC fan will tell you 6m isn't bad for some one who's English, trust me we have experience
Didnt some write of Routledge before he came to us, with other clubs saying we were making a mistake in bringing him here, look how that turned out in our team with game time. A bit of love and these players will do the job needed. Don't forget, look at the players who leave us, the vast majority do worse, so when you consider Allen and Shelvey, which do Liverpool want to keep of the 2, would bet it would be Shelvey, so if Allen was one of our best, yet crap for Liverpool, what ya reckon Shelvey will be like when he is most likely preferred to Allen at Liverpool.
If the club think he is good value then thatsgood enough for me. You are correct about routs, many here didn't rate the signing but he worked out great once given a few games, I think this one is about the future as opposed to right now, he will get support from the jack faithful regardless but may become a target if things don't go well early on
If he makes it into our starting line-up he will have earned it and I would be expecting big things from him. I am sure that if he has the capacity to listen and learn then he cannot but improve with ML's guidance. It's going to be about patience, attitude and confidence when he gets the chance. He may surprise us all, but at 6 million .... We would expect to get a starter from Europe for that sort of money.
I feel for Shelvey a bit. Good player, but raw obviously. Regularly plays for the younger England teams and would feature for us if we had room. Sadly he would get played all over the place. Good prospect though and on par with that scum player Cleverely. As others have said, he will get a red or two in the season. But, when he completely wipes out a Cardiff player, you wont care.
Apparently on twitter @BPLTransferNew1: Shelvey deal is 4.8m , They owe Swansea add ons from the Allen deal #lfc #twitterjacks #scfc That's a better valuation
On ssn news now, on yellow bar. 'Liverpool accept a 6 m pound bid for Shelvey' T o much money for me guys. Hope I am proved wrong. Just dont see how he stregnthens the squad. I dont care if he is british. could have spent less on someone who is only going to be a bit part player.
Tainted he is with the dark side of the force. Control himself better he must. £6m is a good price, yes.
21 year old England international attacking midfielder from Liverpool . Sounds promising but only 1 goal in 19 Premier appearances is a bit worrying. 4m sounds like a price worth gambling on.
I think the guy will do well for you. He is a versatile player who hasnt had a continuous run in our team, but when he has had regular games on loan he has been consistant and had a good scoring record from midfielder. Im glad he is going to a club that I have time for.
He can't control the ball and can't pass, if his basics are this bad at his age then I don't think he will ever improve that much. I don't see how he fits in your team. The only time that he has looked any good was in the Championship and in the Uefa Cup against lower opposition. I hope the rumours are true. Really does look like this is a done deal, BBC reporting just personal terms to iron out.
£6m, so minus off the British Player Premium and you've bought him for £3m, which isn't bad . The biggest issue with Shelvey is mistaking him for a midfielder in the mould of Gerrard. He cetainly isn't a complete player. Shelvey has good vision and passing, plus a good shot. But he cannot defend for ****, it's actually a real liability and cannot believe he hasn't been sent off yet as a result. I could see him doing well for you in an advanced role, sitting behind the striker. He always did well for us when coming off the bench as a sub, but was always ****e when we started him, may be the pressure? or lacking the stamina
I think he's overpriced at 6m, but if it comes down to Shelvey or Ince, maybe Shelvey is the lesser of two evils. 8m for Ince who is unproven at the top level is even more overpriced. What will be will be but he will have to do well to win me over and I hope he proves all the doubters wrong. It's shocking that he will be our record signing though, even if it is for a short period (hopefully).
As you said, Ince has performed in the champ, whereas I think Shelvey was one of our top scorers in the Europa League this year. Bit of a step up.
