Dai I honestly give a **** if another club snaps shelvey up. We already have loads of midfielders and with JDG possibly coming back and Pozuelo rumoured to be signing I just can't see a place for him. He's not pushing Michu or Britton out of the line-up, let alone JDG, Ki, Canas and one of the wingers (when one plays in the hole). Smokescreen indeed.
He's a bit of an enigma to be honest. PROS -Good engine -Clean striker of the ball (can hit Gerrard-esque passes) -Always manages to get a chance or two -Committed -Can talk to snakes -Can have deceptively good close control when on form CONS -Lacks composure - flies into tackles -No balance -Miscontrols the ball a lot -Shoots when it's not on/slices constantly If you were prepared to give him a key role in your side he could do well. Good for maybe 5-10 goals and as many assists. IF he plays every game, with everything geared towards him.
with jinx picking the players then dont expect any better than shelvey as you will be disappointed... wake up and smell the coffee we are losing it fast....
God loves a trier , write what you like and get paid for it .With all these midfielders we've got / having there won't be room on the pitch for the ball Shelvey heavily linked with Swansea switch 30 June 2013 Liverpool are preparing to release England Under-21 starlet Jonjo Shelvey, with Swansea leading the chase for his signature. Premier League rivals West Ham and Norwich are also interested in Shelvey, who impressed has impressed in patches in his 47 appearances for the Reds. Shelvey, though, only started twice in 2013 for Liverpool, and the Welsh club are interested in the 21-year-old - although it is not clear whether they could afford the estimated six-million-pound fee. Swansea see the midfielder as a perfect fit for their quick-passing style, and it is appealing for the player to move to the Liberty Stadium too - given Europa League football is on the agenda this term. Talks between Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and the Swans are underway, and a transfer could be completed as early as Tuesday.
As Laudrup said before if he can't get in the loserpool team what makes him think he'll ever get in ours?
Could players being linked with us be a deliberate ploy by their agents to get them signed by someone? Look at the gems we picked up last season, michu for example, teams are going to think oooh if Swansea are linked with xyz player then he must be worth signing. Just a thought!!
I thought the only reason we are being "linked" with Shelvey is that Liverpool still owe us £5mill from the Allen deal. They are trying to renegotiate on a deal done last year. Pay up tightwads I cant remember where i heard it though!
Oh well the club knows best I suppose Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins admits the club have started talks with Liverpool in a bid to sign Jonjo Shelvey. The England U21 midfielder is valued at around £5m by Liverpool and is the third player to be linked with a move to the Liberty stadium in the last week. "There is an interest there and we are talking to Liverpool," Swansea chairman Jenkins said. Vitesse Arnhem forward Wilfried Bony and Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis have also been attracting interest from Swansea. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed that Jenkins had been in France for talks over Gomis on Monday, and that Swansea had offered the player a pay rise. The France international has a year to run on his Lyon contract and does not have to leave even though the club are keen to move him on. Gomis is apparently attracting interest from the likes of Cardiff, Fiorentina and Shakhtar Donetsk. "We are still talking on a number of fronts to try to get the right players on the right deals for Swansea City," Jenkins added. "There have been continual conversations on Bafetimbi Gomis because he has been one of our main targets. "The fact is that there are quite a lot of things which need to be sorted out at Lyon's end which are out of our control. "We have kept the door open on that one. Similarly with Wilfried Bony, we are waiting for information. "We are waiting for news back from his club - we are still talking to them."
