I'm genuinely stunned by the number of no votes, both were the very definition of yellow card challenges and late in the game, so there's no argument of 'its my first foul'. As OT said, Jonas' reaction sums it up.

in any other game i may have agreed and i may be being biased here but, in a game like this you want the referee to be fair and consistent, to many tackles that were late and or dangerous from utd (rooney and fabio) were let off, and the second one he was going for the ball. yes bad tackle but just consistency would be nice

Poor argument imo. You can't say that Jonas didn't deserve his yellow cards because Rooney and Fabio were let off.

That is a very short sighted response. Surely the one thing you would expect from a referee is consistency. If the referee is consistent with his decisions for both teams then no1 can complain with his performance. I thought Fabio was exceptionally fortunate not to get a second yellow for that cynical shirt pull to stop us breaking, in fact he got a final warning for it didn't he? I think a second yellow for that challenge was harsh, he lunges in a bit but indisputably plays the ball, just look where it ends up!

He didn't play the ball. Nani flicked it right before Jonas made contact.

It shouldn't be "Jonas didn't deserve to be booked because Rooney wasn't". Two wrongs don't make a right. Jonas's tackles were reckless and deserved a yellow imo.

jonas deserved to go. the first was reckless and the second was just ****ing stupid, if he hadn't been ****ing on on the sideline cos he didn't get the decision he would have been in position and not needed to dive in.
