Wonder if Pardew will use Jonas`s illness as an excuse for the teams performance against Southampton. He exhausted all the other ones..

Get well soon Jonas, everyone is pulling for you mate..

As one of the many people who have lost a family member after a long battle with cancer this year I find your comment distasteful, my father died at the end of April and his youngest brother is battling Pancreatic Cancer at this time, I wish Jonas and his family all the best in what is a dreadful time.

If this story is legit, than any Pardew comments surely need to be set aside lads, give the gravitas of the situation? Come on chaps..
It's shocking and poor old jonas. Bad **** all round.

I think the general negativity towards the club at the moment might be clouding views and 'interpretations' of the story. If we were riding high and he was sent home to be with his family to recover and spend time with his loved ones (with club contract still active), then we'd be saying what a caring club we have.

I wish him well.

It would be beyond disgusting for Pardew to try and use Jonas' cancer in that way and I don't believe he will. It would be equally disgusting for any of our fans to try and use this story as a way of making a cheap dig at Pardew. It would not only be disrespectful to Jonas and his bravery in publicising what he is going through, but it would also be disrespectful to anyone who has fought the disease and those who have lost loved ones to it. I truly hope that none of our fans sink that low.

Lost my mam to Cancer in 2010 at the age of 59. And haven't stopped running since. Would gladly give all I have to help find a cure.

I know that feeling, I read the mirror story and apparently the club had instructed reporters to stop asking about Jonas's absence from the team as they were respecting his privacy in this, he had a testicle removed and is now undergoing chemo, I get the feeling that the bit where he has said that the club told him to leave was probably more like go and home and focus on beating this.

My best wishes go out to Jonas & his family. He always gave 100% to both his club and country and I'm sure his willingness to fight will be of tremendous benefit. Here's hoping he makes a full recovery.
No doubt this will mark the end of his Newcastle career and explain why he looked poor last season, so I'd just like to say thanks to him for his efforts.

Any suggestion that the club will have said anything other than 'get off back to your family and recover' is complete toss. I would like a regime change as much as anyone but this is Ashley/Pardew hating gone too far. Get well soon Jonas!

I can't believe this is being used as a stick to hit Pardew with by the anti-everything campaign. FFS none of it matters and its pretty disgusting to be honest. Have a look at yourself man, making comments like that is daft. Just remember there is a member of our playing squad going through hell.

All I can say is I have always had a lot of time for the bloke. I wish him and his family well, I know how torturous this kind of illness can be. Hopefully the club and supporters can offer as much support as possible and help make a full recovery. Was gutted to hear this when I woke up. **** start to the day.

I hope the fans start a few Jonas chants at the weekend to let him know we are thinking of him. This really is god awful news for the lad and I hope any energy inside SJP on Saturday is directed towards showing him our good side.

In terms of Colo, he is a close mate of Jonas so I guess (as I would be) he's cut to pieces about this.
The fans need to keep this in mind before giving him stick for any lapses of concentration.

It might also shed light on some of the interviews at the beginning of the year when Pardew, coaching staff and quite a few of the players came across as not caring when quite a few of them made comments along the lines of 'more important things to worry about' and 'other stuff going on' that they got a lot of stick for at the time.

It's true as all media sources are confirming it, gutted for him a top bloke.
I hate pardew with a passion but I can't see him doing that I believe it more to be like him telling him to go away and get better type thing

This.

Jonas is on chemo. His hair has fallen out. He is clearly not, to put it mildly, match fit.

I expect that someone (probably Pardew) told him that he was being unrealistic if he was considering playing. The "Go home" was permission from the club not to attend training etc but to return to Argentina.

Sad news but not a failing on the club's part, which is paying his wages, allowing him to recover with his family and also observing his right to privacy by not releasing the news until Jonas did.

<ok>

to many people on here feeding off negativity

How you doing HDQ?
hope all is well.

Fine Albert thanks <ok>
just been extremely busy at work,
still working on average over 95 hours a week
promised myself at the begining of the year to finish work no later than 9pm - hasn't happened yet <laugh>

pissed off like everyone else,
can't be arse with the same bleating on about it in every thread though, it's just going round in circles
I like to concetrate on the positives, like taking Ashley's money off him as I'm still doing a bit of work for them up the road

my glass is always half full
whereas some on here will always be waiting for a refill

Well, I hope to hear in the crowd against Hull this being sung:

"Spiderman, Spiderman, Guttierez the Spiderman"

being chanted. and video's, and that video being sent / tweeted to Jonas
