Lazio have been linked with an £8 million bid for him this summer. My question is, would you accept?

Positives to selling him

- We have Ben Arfa that could replace him
- He has a poor final ball
- He is 27 and if we are to sell him this is the most we'd ever get for him

Negatives to selling him

- Would split up the three amigos, and we need to keep Enrique and Colo happy as they are a major part of our team
- Excellent dribbler of the ball and can produce the odd assist and goal
- Relieves pressure on defence by running the ball out instead of booting it anywhere
- Drags defenders out of position therefore creating space for other players

I would personally keep him, as even if he doesn't start next season I can see him being a great impact sub and he is a popular player in the dressing room, therefore it would keep everyone happy!

What would you do?

My god yes!!!

I think Jonas is a good player, but 8 million is more than he's worth and we need someone whos more consistant with their deliveries. If Ben Arfa proves himself then my god please take the 8 mil. As for Jose and Colo, if they throw a tantrum over losing their mate, i couldn't give a toss. It's part of life having to leave your mates, we all did it at school, and we all do it for work.

Unsure on this one...
Whilst he'll no doubt be covered if he departs due to the return of Ben Arfa, I still rate him as a player. Sometimes he has bad games, but sometimes he has really good games.

I think with Ben Arfa back in the squad, Gutierrez will work harder again due to competition.

Despite his inconsistency, I just don't think I would want to see him go. Not ready yet! This is the team that got us back up and have done a bloody good job so far. Part of me just couldn't bear to see all this get torn up even more.

But, as stated, the money could be well invested and we definitely wouldn't be short of replacements.

It's a difficult one for me.

Does anyone else think that since Pardew took over he seems to be crossing (or trying to) the ball more often?

I'd personally keep him for at least another season until we have the team built up to what I'd class as full strength, yes Ben Arfa can come in but has only played 3 full games. I'd like to see him after 10 or so to be 100% that he has the same commitment and not just playing to impress.

The other side of Guitierez game is his defending, he does get back and battles which others who filled this position quite often didn't bother doing.

He's not the worlds greatest but I like his attitude which goes well with the rest of the squad.

Too many runs without end product, I get really frustrated with him because if he actually worked on his crossing instead of trying to beat one too many challanges he could be brilliant, works hard up and down the wing but to no avail at times, he shows from time to time his real ability with crosses and runs into the box that can produce results. Defensively goes missing a lot and gives away too many free kicks when he does make contact. £8 Million if offered got to be considered.

bird in the hand is worth two in the bush and all that. (if i can think of any more relevant clichés i'll be sure to post them.)

I'd keep him. We havent got the biggest squad and even if when Benny's back he goes to sit on the bench he will be an excellent player to come off the bench. If we want to get higher in the league we need to have a stronger bench.

Also, i think with him on the left and Benny on the right or attacking Mid it would be better anyway.

Beware Greeks bearing gifts...

Convoluted link but here goes:

Rome (Lazio is a suburb of it) was founded by Aeneas (according to Virgil but it's a lot more believable then two kids being suckled by a she wolf... I digress) who was a citizen of Troy who was royally screwed by Greeks bearing gifts...

I'd keep him, 100%

Great player, sure his crossing & shots aren't what you'd hope for out of a winger, but his defensive work is the best we've ever had on the left wing in my lifetime.

His linkup play with Colo and Enrique is superb, he really does relieve the defense by playing the ball out and holding it rather than just a booted clearance.
Yes he often ends up losing it when tackled by two or three opposition players - note two or three - but by that point our defense have had time to re-organise and reposition themselves. Besides, half the time he's furthest upfield anyways so who is he going to release the ball to?? And he wins us at least a half dozen free kicks a game, that Barton can capitalise on.

I think he is vital to our squad. I'd love to see him AND Ben Arfa on the pitch at the same time, swapping sides - have you noticed when Jonas plays on the right he cuts in and takes shots? imagine the nightmare you'd have as a defense against those two swapping flanks throughout the game, with Barton & Tiote in the centre and Nolan behind a striker....not to mention surging runs by Enrique. Strong team.

I would definately want to keep Jonas.

We must build the squad and get more strength-in-depth. Jonas and HBA will be good competition for each other. We have already witnessed this year how injuries can decimate our squad and if we want to push on next year we need to keep our quality players.

Under normal circumstances I would say SELL SELL SELL however having sold Carroll I don't think we are in desperate need of the money and he'll be good competition/back up for HBA.

Sell Rout, Perch, Smith , Lover, Raylor and Best. Keep everyone else at all cost...simples. Then build.

Cant go selling the likes of Jonas, Tiote, colo, Saylor, Barton...lets build and not sell players of any quality.

Agree with all except Best and Raylor!

Raylor can cover right mid, centre mid and right back and Best is good back up and he would not moan about being on the bench! I'd only sell Routledge and Smith if we got decent replacements!
