Although it's sad too see Jonas leave I do feel it was the right time especially to go in as memorable fashion as he did.

If he didn't score that goal the majority wouldn't be calling for another contract, they would be saying it's time for him to go.

It's a brilliant end for Jonas. Few footballers leave on such a crest of a wave and I daresay I could pull a search to see more than a few of us calling for him to be dropped for his part played in the shambles towards the end of the season.

He is inspiration, though, and not only left in grace but called out Ashley. He's bumped Sibierski down the list, but deffo top 20 NUFC legends.

On his showing for us since coming back I am sure Jonas will be a good servant for his next club, wherever that is. Still think he could have been a useful squad member next year, however, telling it like it was meant he was never going to be kept on. Thank you for all your efforts.
How the f..k Ameobi gets a new contract is beyond me, not even as good as his brother and he was sh.te.

No problem, probably the lowest crest in the history of crests <ok>

But a crest all the same. All relative, surely - I doubt that you've ever enjoyed a 0-0 draw quite as much as that one at the Emirates, which was the small crest of a wave that Advocaat left your club on.

That was the crest of a slump tbh, nothing to be proud of ....... although it did mean we stayed up from our own efforts.

With Newcastle there was no wave at all, so no crest, just a meaningless win as Hull failed to get a result.
You couldn't lost 100 to nil and stayed up.

I had both matches live and I lost it when Jonas scored. Felt like summat to me. Sure, nothing to be proud of, but it's relative. As fans of clubs with fck all ever likely to be won, we take what we can get. If we're holding out for Barca-style football and slaughtering Man U 5-0 again, we might as well take up knitting.

Gutted for Jonas. If all our players showed the same commitment as him, we wouldn't be the shower of ****e we are. Good luck to him, tremendous servant.

I went to Arsenal without a ticket, bought one for the home section and ended up in with the Sunderland lads.
How I got home remains afucking mystery tbh.

It was great, and a little ironic, when the players came over and thought we were actually applauding them and not, in reality, applauding the club, the shirt & ourselves. I have very little time for any of these millionaires, no matter how many testicles they have.

Considering how Jonas started the season and how he ended it, I'd say that was a hell of a crest of a wave he left on. The club might have had a season of shame, but Jonas can hold his head high.

Quite possibly, however your mate was referring to the club which was the point I answered.

If scraping relegation is the crest of a wave for either club then it's shameful at a time when the likes of Swansea, Southampton, Stoke, West Ham etc are coasting to survival on inferior crowds.

Completely agree. I can't see it ending anytime soon either. Both clubs need a good overhaul. Will be interesting to see which managers come in. Personally, I think the level of control on offer at our club makes Sunderland a much more attractive proposition.

To be fair Smug YOU made it about the club. Rolando was talking about Jonas until you replied. Re-read posts 25 and 26. <ok>

It doesn't appear to be clear one way or the other tbh.

If you're convinced he was only referring to the player, not the club in any way, then fair enough.

I'm sure he'll be along to put one of us straight <ok>

Whatever the case it's a disgrace, for the NE, that the likes of Swansea, Southampton & Stoke are more highly regarded.
