I don't know if it's a contract or a confidence issue, or whether he's gone in the sulks because the club blocked a potential move in the summer. It could even be complacency, as maybe he sees himself as irreplaceable.
Like everyone else, I'm scratching my head, wondering what's happened to the keeper we had last season.
Whatever it is, I agree with Chunks, that a bit of time on the sidelines might sort his head out.

His decision making has often been iffy and clearances poor, but getting worse. Yes time for a rest.

Im Not bothered about my keepers distribution to be honest. If he is saving things and not making goalkeeping mistakes then it’s no issue fir me. If he’s making errors which are costing goals then it is. Keeper mistakes relegated us from the championship. Cost us over 30 points I think. Directly. Poor kicking didn’t. I think, if we didn’t have Pickford, nobody would mention distribution as an issue.

Good distribution is a nice to have not need to have. Lack of errors costing goals is a need to have. And McLaughlin has neither at present.

Tbf to the lad how often has he played in front of the same back 4 or even 2 centrebacks.
It's like a blind date and unfortunately out of the 7 or 8 cb's ross has brought in only willis looks remotely the part.
If you cant ( with any confidence ) predict how your cb's are going to react to a circumstance it makes the gk's life very very difficult.
That was part of the reason craig Gordon didnt really succeed with us. Imagine having noseworthy, Ferdinand, Collins etc etc in front of you.
He had Evan's for half a season and wes brown for similar and that was the only time he looked comfortable
A settled organised back 4 is both critical and fundamental.
That ross hasnt nailed this aspect speaks volumes for his overall managerial ineptitude.
Dont expect burge to be any better while ross is in charge. He has had a couple of good games this far but in both he had nothing to lose.
Who knows ..if he gets the gig his ar5e may fall out. Ross hardly inspires confidence anywhere in any position

That'd make sense if he hadn't played last season behind a frequently changing and unreliable back line and been rock solid.

I know you try to blame Ross for everything wrong with the team but something has changed with McLaughlin since last season, he's not been the same from the off.

Gordon didn't really succeed with us because Defoe(the saintly one!) left his foot in and broke his arm leading to a slow recovery during which he got injured again. By the time he'd fully recovered his contract was up and we weren't confident he'd left his injury troubles behind. In addition there were rumblings about him "swinging the lead" and not playing when he could have done

Yeh good points
And he had a good season last
But something maybe his mindset has changed
He hasn’t picked up last years form yet

McLaughlin makes me nervous watching the highlights - and I already know what happens next. Burge very strong last time out. He [Burge] and Willis have more than 100 starts together over the last three years.

He should have done better for their first goal yesterday, very poor.

SAFC supporters have short memories , last year Jon was exceptional and saved us time and time again this year he has made some mistakes costing us goals , not that many . Compare this with our friends Mr Camp and Mr Steele who conceded goal after goal week in week out before condemning Jon McLaughlin and you decide who you prefer , our second keeper is back up and will ultimately make the step up but I think we should at least give Jon a little more time before making the change .

He wasn't the best for Lincolns 1st goal yesterday, he just stood and waited for the ball to come to him.
