  1. I never said we should offer him a new contract yet, i think we should let him come towards the end of the 2 year deal he's already on, then if he's still bangning the goals in, sign him for another season or two.

I disagree with you about his CM performances, but despite that, look at his goals. He deserves to stay simply because he's been our top scorer twice in a row now, and works his arse off. He offers much more than alot of people think he does.

I agree he probably wont be on our starting 11 next season, but he can still score vital goals for us, and play a massive part in our season. Our starting 11 will not be the same throughout the season, and i bet you anything Nolan will still start quite a few games based on squad rotation and injuries/suspensions.

Fair enough he deserve credit for the last 2yrs. Bit kind on him saying he "works his tits off" though. He runs for 50/55mins then stands in the centre circle for the rest of the game.

  5. No, my loyalty and reasoning see why it would be stupid to sell Nolan!! If a bid of 10m+ came in, i might be tempted, but nothing less. I agree that's more than he's worth at this age, but if we're going to sell vital players, we need to sell them for more than we think they're worth mate.

6 million would be ridiculous. I'd rather have his goals.

  6. He's one of the hardest working players on the pitch, and definitely one of the most influencial. Agree to disagree, but if he was lazy, he wouldn't be an influencial figure and wouldn't be given the captains armband.

Thats why were trying to sign two strikers. I'm not really the sentimental type, and I know Nolan has got a hatful of goals the last few seasons, but the majority of these have come from Carroll flick ons. The goals started to dry up a bit after he left. Unfortunately I cannot see him scoring the same amount next season as I honestly dont think he will start. Sometimes you have to move on.

Get your blinkers off man for christ's sake.

Nolan will be finished in a couple of years. 6 million quid for him is great business.

  11. Well only 3-4 of his goals came from Carroll's assists mate.

I'm just worried that we;re losing the heart of our team and we're relying on our replacements to deliver, but sometimes quality isn;t all you need. We may find better quality than Nolan and Barton, but the heart cannot be replaced.

Why do you think we won the derbies this season? Because we had players like that who and realised the gravity of an occasion, and pumped the players up and gave them mental strength to accomplish their mission.

That was the main reason we got promoted and heart like that is a big reason why we stayed up this season.

  12. 6 million quid for your top scorer isn't a great bit of business mate, but can't be bothered trying to make you see sense.

As usual this fella makes a good point! Nolan was prolific effectively playing as an AM off Carroll.... as soon as he went then we found out about the rest of Nolan's midfield capabilities.

I agree about the team spirit and all that, but we would still have barton. Also we didnt win both derbies. But 40k a week, and 6mil just for a team leader, really? Could Barton not just take over that role. We are lucky that we have a squad full of leaders and not just one in Nolan. Everyone goes on about our team spirit. Theres more than just Nolan in it, hence "team". We have alot of other players without Nolan that can rally the squad. I can tell you that!

Haha, no way would he have been our top scorer if Carroll had stayed. After he went we had no strikeforce, apart from arguably Best who didn't get enough opportunities. Carroll was very important to our style of play this season, after he went Barton's performances suffered too, and he no longer looked like an option on the right hand side.

  16. It's not just squad leadership man! It's goals! GOALS!!! We can't just say "oh it's alright Kevin lad, we don't need you next season because our new strikers will make up our loss when we sell you".

We cannot just sell Nolan and expect our new strikers to score the goals we'll lose when Nolan leaves, and No one has a crystal ball to see if Nolan wont score as many or even more than he did last season.

We should keep him for atleast 1 more season, the same as Barton, to see how vital both of them really are to our future, we can't just sell them and hope for the best with our new signings.

Next season could decide our future. Keep them for one more season, and then see what happens. At the end of the day... what's 6 million to Ashley? Keep him. It's not worth the risk.

I like Kevin, I appreciate his goals, and his leadership. Nor am I necessarily encouraging his sale. BUT, I will say on the days he doesn't score, he is the least influential Mag on the pitch (albeit Shola is often a negative influence...). He needs to start finding ways to impact every game, regardless of what formation or squad is being used.

it isnt a risk ? tiote and barton are both better CMs , Im sure we will bring in some ST of some quality better than what we have (Goala Ameobi -_-)
HBA is better off the ST than Nolan as we know hes got class
Cabaye looks to be a talent aswel
the only one who is a risk is Cabaye mate

not forgetting Gosling to come back aswel

and when you think Cabaye and Tiote cost less than £6m
i wouldnt mind another £6million at Mr.Carr and co <3

You're are a right ****ing bellend at times you know tash. Just out of curiosity since you seem to proper bum Nolan + Barton a bit to much for my liking (I like them both but the way you go on when an article is posted or you make one yourself concerning their contracts borders on the ridiculous), how many goals did Nolan get after Carroll left - you talk about his goals but I don't think he got as many after he left.

Er..that's the general principle behind replacing a player. Clubs do that all the time.

If we keep him for one more season, and he's a bit-part player which I fully expect him to be, we will get 1 mil, maybe 2 for his services when he's only got a year left. The way I see it he's a completely spent force in 2 years' time anyway so might as well cash in on him now.
