im just saying cover for now who has premier league experience. I agree we should be looking at bringing younger players in if this is the case lets start bringing some of youngsters tho....... Players like Mo Sharif Tom Hitchcock, you can only get better by playing against the best there is.
Only a couple of weeks ago most on here were dumbfounded when we signed AJ. His injury although unfortunate, is not critical. Mackie is not a winger, he is a CF and Adel gives us huge options up front in a variety of positionsr. We have plenty of options. Hope AJ recovers quickly, I wish him well.
We cant get anyone in until January anyway. We might as well go for quality as we only have 18 months left for Cisse and Zamora so theres no point getting another stopgap. Although I would have said yes if we could sign players on a free now.
im sure you can still sign free players can't you as Fulham only signed some Greek midfielder a few days ago. But i could be wrong not 100% sure.
Yes indeed, totally agree, really bad thinking - Helguson is currently putting in 90 mins in all the Cardiff games. With his injury history, AJ was always somewhat suspect, so we needed cover up front. DJ could have also been selected above Ephraim. He is a bit of a Defoe type of player. Perhaps he just needed a second chance.
We have named a full 25 so there arent any spaces to sign free agents. I think our only chance would be to sign an u21 player but Im not even sure about that now as they had to be named as well this season.
yeah ur right flyer just read this:Clubs do not have to name a full squad of 25 if they do not have that many contracted players and in this case they can add free agents outside the transfer window. However if they have 25 eligible contracted players, they must be named. as for under 21's: In addition to the 25-man named squad, clubs can use an unlimited number of players aged 21 or under. . According to the Premier League: "An Under 21 player is defined as one who is under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences. For the 2010/11 campaign Under 21 players will have been born on or after 1st January 1989."
with his injury record it was a risky deal but we have cover so no major drama,i wish AJ a speedy recovery.
There are several forward options with Zamora that could actually work well, so this may be a blessing in disguise. Hoilett, Taarabt and Mackie can all play versions of striker in a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 and Granero can be pushed into an advanced role as well. It's a bummer for AJ as his workrate was excellent but we'll get by...
There are but we are screwed if Zamora gets injured. No one else can play his role which is why I never wanted HH sold.
Totally agree with this. I would have kept HH at the club over DJ or Betty, neither of whom are in the same class as Cisse or Zamora (...although, to be fair I don't think DJ has been given much of a chance to prove otherwise, which is a shame because we know he can score goals at this level). But, as someone else already said, it's better to have a second class striker available then having no backup at all. For this reason I would definately have had at least DJ in the squad... Perhaps Betty too if really desperate (as backup for Zamora in the deep striker role)... But Hulse... no chance.
Disappointed cos he was playing so well but hey ho,every cloud has a silver lining. Not looked at to many posts but is the loan window still open ???
Gutted for AJ. Met him Saturday and he was a real gent....really nice guy and top pro. Get well soon AJ!!
Echo that again! Very bad injury at his age. I was a bit unsure how good he was going to be, but the English Commentator on the Barclay PL channel (might have been Andy Townsend) was really singing his praise of his performance Saturday, said he was our best attacking threat running between chelsea's CB's and their midfield.
I wasnt happy when we signed Johnson, but he was beginning to show some good signs and was linking well with BZ. But this is exactly what I, and many others said in pre-season. One injury and we are down to just 2 'out and out strikers'. Yes Mackie could play there, but that means changing our approach. The likes of Tarbs and Hoilett would play behind a lone striker. Very short sighed view of MH imo, and it has come back to bite us. But regarding the debate about Park, imo it comes down to the opposition - against the bigger sides when we need to be more cautious, put him out wide - but against other teams when we go for it he shouldnt be there. He cannot beat his man. But as I said in my match report he was excellent against Chelsea.
Sorry to hear about this. He was never much cop for us but the alarming regularity of these serious injuries of his is very unfortunate. He could've been a very decent PL striker if he stayed fit. Look on the bright side, at least you didn't pay £10m for him!
Great shame. Good luck to AJ. I see MH has said of his previous injuries, that he always comes back stronger. Mentally, may be...
