Adam Johnson could be back in action within two months after the injury news on the Sunderland winger was better than first expected. Sunderland were hit by a significant blow earlier this week after learning that Johnson had dislocated his shoulder in last Saturday’s defeat at Leicester. Johnson was expected to be out for a minimum of eight weeks, or more if he required an operation. But after undergoing a scan on his shoulder, Johnson will be able to avoid surgery and is expected to be sidelined now for around six weeks. “Adam had a scan on Wednesday and we thought at first, he would be out for eight weeks as a minimum,” said Advocaat. “But after the scan, it was quite positive and he’ll be able to start running again after three weeks. “In five or six weeks, we hope he can be back. “It’s a big blow though because he did well in pre-season and we can’t have those kind of players unavailable. “The fact is though is he’s not going to be there, so we’ll have to do it without him.” Meanwhile. Advocaat confirmed that Yann M’Vila would be involved in the squad for tomorrow’s visit of Norwich after the summer signing has had an extra week training with his new team-mates.
