Dont think so! Hope not anyway! Cant see how putting him in the team can have a positive effect on our performances and our overall reputation! Its bound to effect the players on the training ground never mind on the football pitch!

I was just thinking that, his fellow players must be a bit confused.

You and I have disagreed quite a few times recently with regards to this and politics etc, but I genuinely think you're a great bloke mate, I admire your ability to keep a level head and not get carried away, same with the optimism you have for the club you support, whilst many are giving up you find a way to not only see positives but you try to galvanise people, you're an asset to this board.

Just out of curiosity though mate, if the accused was Jeremy Clarkson in this case, would you still say he's innocent until proven guilty? <laugh>

Nope! I have not condemned him! Still doesn't mean I think he should be playing for us. My fury is directed towards what I think is best for the club! Not suspending him may, rightly or wrongly, damage the reputation of the football club! Putting him on the football pitch will damage the chances of us stopping up in my opinion! I think suspending him would be the best decision for the club! I thought the decision would have been obvious actually. If he was to score a couple of hat-tricks that keep us in the division, then he is found guilty, I will feel embarrassed and sick to the stomach really! I would sooner us go down than for that to happen. I just don't think its worth the risk keeping him around until the verdict! I just hope that the fact we havnt suspended him is for legal reasons and he doesn't go near a football pitch! Do you think he should be representing Sunderland with this hanging over him? Do you think it is best for the club!? Do you think he'll be able to perform anywhere near what is required!? The media will have a field day if he plays, something which we could do without!

If he is found guilty then he will be judged and sentenced by a court of law. It is not the football clubs or the supporters for that matter to take action against him before he has faced trial. He should be treated as being innocent until if and/or when the court has decided otherwise..

In businesses which are not in the public eye it is pretty standard practice to suspend without prejudice whilst investigating an employee for disciplinary matters. It is also commonplace for employers to suspend without prejudice when an employee is being charged, or has been charged, for an indictable offence.

They don't have to of course. Being in the public eye would, I would have thought, make it more likely to suspend the employee. It isn't about a presumption of guilt it is about taking him and the club out of the firing line.

Innocent until guilty is the right and proper way to go, but, the club has to think of the future and possible outcomes. Yes he has just been accused, not convicted, but in the circumstances does anybody in their right mind think that potentially allowing him to play again for your team this season is the right way to go. This is a very serious accusation, he should be focussing on his defence and upcoming court case. Do you know what every fan in the country is going to think about this decision? It is very ill judged. It would have been better for all concerned if your club had not decided to allow back to play earlier. I think both our clubs have fecking idiots in charge, with not one ounce of foresight. Let him sort out his lawyers and barristers etc, that is his priority, not playing football!

I don't know if he is guilty of the charges brought before him! But lets be honest, It would seem that, at the very best, he has stupidly put himself into a bit of a tight squeeze! So for the good of the football club, and for the man himself surely, a suspension, or at the very least, not being picked until the verdict, should be standard procedure! And he shouldn't feel hard done by because it is probably at least partially down to his own stupidity!

I'm sure the club have far more information regarding the circumstances of what happened than any of us. And that also goes for his mental disposition regarding being able to perform.

I worked in care and I launched a bouncer on camera on a night out. I was suspended with pay as a result. I'm astonished he hasn't been suspended.

For the slight majority of the time he is guff anyway so I cant see how having team mates looking at him with raised eyebrows, screaming supporters in the stands giving him hell and the media constantly keeping their beady eyes on him/the club is gonna help him or the club progress in a positive manner over the next month! If he was to turn into a world beater over the next few games, score goals, keep us up, then get sent down, oh god, we'd be the most hated club ever! Not worth the risk! By the way, the club will only know what Johnson wants them to know. They'll have no idea of what the authorities know or what is really going on inside his head surely?

More assumptions of guilt if they were to have raised eyebrows. For all we know, the clubs lawyers could be heavily involved in the case. As for being the most hated club, that should not come into the equation...What I would like to see though is our supporters creating a siege mentality and supporting the team regardless of whether Johnson plays or not..

That doesn't really come into the equation Marcus. **** happens around the world everyday and we don't hear about it. The newspaper men know what sells newspapers. If you don't like what they publish your best bet is to either avoid them or look into a career in journalism so you can sort it from the inside.

No one is saying AJ is any worse than the people you mention but he's in the public eye and as such there's a lot of interest in it. It's a scandal and that's what people want to read about sadly. He's a premier league footballer who's represented his country. Of course it's going to make it into the news.
